[. . .]

Bioshock was fun once, but all the action was on this giant spaceship.
Lots of puzzle solving, etc.

[. . .]

Bioshock was in a city (Rapture) under the Atlantic Ocean, no spaceships involved. :)

The Witcher is a good indie game. buy the special edition, preferably the euro version (its not censored).

Assassins Creed also fun.

I agree, The Witcher is a great game and The Enhanced (US) version is now available that's uncensored like the EU release was.  It's a couple of years old now but the game still looks great and is one of the better RPGs released in the last couple of years.  Assassins Creed is also a great game.

Might also want to check out Borderlands and Dragon Age, two more excellent games.

Battlefield 1942/2142-I own 1942, and it is pretty fun, don't know about 2142 though.

Star Wars Episode I Pod Racer for the N64 - Get project64 off the internet, as well as the SWEIPR rom, install Project64, set graphics up to highest, and load SWEIPR. The graphics look great, frame rates get a huge boost, and the sound is far less tinny. Plus, the game is fairly challenging, so there is that fun factor when you finally beat it.

Fallout 3 - Best free roaming game out there.

Bioshock - Beautiful art deco atmosphere, original game play and fun.

Portal - Only for those who like puzzle games.  Short, but original and challenging.  Great story line.

I enjoyed Diablo I and II and also like Wolfenstein. So with that in mind what would any of you suggest.

I don't like online games other than AH.
A friend gave me Oblivion: The Elder Scrolls IV.  Combines the first-person aspect with a more fantasy setting.  I've not played Fallout, so I don't know how they compare, but I would consider Oblivion to have a fairly large and open world to explore.  There is a central theme/quest, but lots of side quests and things to just do at random if you choose.

"What is a good PC game?"

Depends entirely on what you like.

Right now I am splitting my time between the following, excluding AH:

Left 4 Dead 2:  Zombie killing goodness and, surprisingly, enough of an improvement on the original to make it worth the money.  A must-buy, IMO.  Such a simple concept and about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on.  First person shooter; play with or against friends.

Empire: Total War:  Several months on and I am still playing.  Outstanding value for the money.  Civilization meets an RTS in the 18th Century.

Dragon Age: Origins:  Im still trying to get into this one... but an awful lot of people like it.  Role-playing, sword and shield-type game.

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is great only if you willing to spend countless hours getting mods (and making them work).

The original game itself (aka unmodded) was released too late and it shows that the game's 1st person view and interface fell far behind what online MMO's and other 1st person games had achieved. the interface is rather clunky and the game mechanics rather stale.

the mods though, fix all that and make it a truly great game.

you do need a high end machine to run it though.

Many have posted Empire Total War and I agree. I have it and its unbelievably good. However the games you posted you liked were all action /1st person shooters... but empire has both strategy and knuckle gripping combat.

Mount and blade is a gem.
The game itself ended up more like an engine demonstrator and the real content is in the mods. When you get tired of it, start going through the long list of excellent mods - many of them are total conversion from early roman times to WWI. Graphics are more than decent for my tase, but if it is not enough and your rig can handle it, look for the graphic enhancement mods.

I am now back to playing... Fallout2. They don't make them like they used to.
Mosquito VI - twice the spitfire, four times the ENY.

Fallout 3 is fantastic.  I like the fact that you can roam the world as you please.  There are a few expansion packs.  I picked those up but haven't had time to get to them yet.

I've heard a few people mention "Mount and Blade".  That sounds like an interesting one I might try next.  I was very disappointed with the Call of Duty:World at War when it came out.  I can't justify spending $60 bucks for Modern Warfare 2 just yet.

If you like zombies Either all of the Resident Evil Games or try Left 4 Dead 1 or 2. I havn't played L4D2 yet, but I heard it was a great game.

Well depending on your operating system sense alot of the really great older games are just written to play on any Win OS up to windows xp 32bit OS some dont work on XP Pro 64 bit

32 bit OS Games, All of the Call of Duty Games the offline storyline missions are great, they online action is fun to , Nova logic games I.E  Landwarrior series, Delta Force series, There's a couple of good Air type games also by Nova Logic.  Battlefield 2 , All of the Medal Of Honor Series, i guess it just depends on what you enjoy playing..

My system now just wont play all of my older 32bit OS games, so i still keep a PC with xp 32 on it, to play them. Games im playing now on my 64Bit and really like are Modern Warfare 1 and 2 , Resident Evil, L4D, trying the L4D2 Demo ( lol fun) Fallout 1, 2 and of course AH2

Company of Heroes, the ONLY WW2 RTS that actually works well (as in gameplay wise). You use cover systems and resource gathering (by taking strategic points like in Battlefield). And the units are all historically recreated such as Panzer IV's and Wirblewinds and so on. The models are very detailed and the game has AMAZING graphics plus you get lots of cool battles involving infantry and tanks and even a tactical airstrike here and there.

All this is taken from ONE GAME of COH, it is one of my videos. It involves myself and Skyguns (an ex- AH2 player, who left not out of choice :cry).
