we dont need planes that very few people will fly as an example the p39 how many people wanted it? and now sometimes I go days without seeing one, shoot, I see more in 262's than p39's.  to have planes just for the sake of having them is just a waste of resources.  how many people fly the two newest planes now?  since its not a novelty anymore, very few people up in them.  spitfires are always heavily used in this game and adding more of them would be a better use of resources.

There aren't many aircraft that would see much use in the MA left to be added, so your request is almost tantamount to saying "Please don't add any new aircraft."

XV is the Royal Navy version of the XII.  Yes I love that bird too but it's postwar.  Didn't get into operations during WW2.

ahh didnt realise that, seems strange they took so long to get a folding wing griffon seafire into action when XII and XIV were available from 42/43. that would be a carrier beast :D

spits must be the most confusing series of aircraft ever produced :headscratch:

Maybe HTC could just create an all Spitfire game for you so you and the rest of the Spitboiz can play in your own sandbox.

Wouldn't be long before the dreaded "boredom" sets in...  :joystick:

you mean you would be bored as 90% of the player base swapped to the spitfire game?  :D

OK Dan, as you asked nicely ;-)

First - Jocko, what we have in-game is the Seafire IIc (read on), not the LIIc.

The initial 3 months of Seafire production seen it fitted with a Merlin 45/46 = IIc.
The Merlin 45/46 proved unsatisfactory, so........
All subsequent Seafire IIcs were fitted as standard with the Merlin 32 = LIIc.

All the initial batch of IIc's were retrofitted with the Merlin 32 and became LIIc's.

Seafire LIII fitted with Merlin 55M (same motor as our old Vc), and many many flew clipped!!!
Seafire LIII was the most produced version of ANY wartime Seafire.

Production numbers -
IIc - 312 (Sept 42 - Nov 42) subsequently all refitted to LIIc specs
LIIc - 60 (Nov 42 --->)
LRIII - <10 (LIII with cameras)
LIII - 1263 (Nov 43 --->)

Pics -
All 3 bladed prop Seafires are IIc's.
4 bladed prop, 6 ejector stacks no wing fold are LIIc's
4 bladed prop, 6 ejector stack and wing fold are LIII's

Interestingly the FAA never learnt from the Seafire IIc problems and the very first few Seafire III's were produced with the Merlin 55 and designated FIII's. In very short time this was replaced by the low alt 55M and they were designated LIII's.

How would more Spits help Semp?  What don't you have?  For AH the XVI is about as good as you are gonna get in terms of performance.  As AH is much more of a low level air war, the performance of the XVI fits perfectly.

As I said, I'm a Spitfire XII history fanatic.  It's performance would be comparable to the XVI the way it's used in AH.  So we get a XII.  Outside of those of us who know it's history, how is it going to benefit the game overall?  So it puts some of the XVI's in the hanger for a bit.  Half the folks in AH think that because it's labeled XVI it must be a better plane then the XIV.  So the  XII would go into the hanger soon enough as well as the E wing on the XVI has more punch then the Universal wing on the XII.

There is no Spitfire you could add that would enhance gameplay.  HTC has that covered with the Spit line up we have.

Again, I'd love my Spit XII, but there are too many other birds out there the game could use first.
(Image removed from quote.)

actually the point I was trying to make is to add planes that are actually gonna be used.  adding planes just because we dont have them its a waste of time (I know eventually every single plane, truck, sheep used in ww2 is going to be added).  Me I am happy flying the spit8, i only fly the spit16 when I need to bomb something, and the spit9 when the eny gets too high.  and when I get bored and wanna waste some time I fly the p47 (any of them) I like their unlimited ammo.  spitfires will probably get used more than some Italian, Russian plane, etc.

but if you really wanna add planes that would enhance gameplay and that are actually gonna be used then get the a26.  or you can add another p39 that will sit in the hangar for the occasional player to use.

I am sorry Semp, I could not disagree more with your positions on this matter. How can you say that it is a waste of time and resources to develop Aces High into the most complete WW2 MMOG possible? You say we don't need soviet, italian, french or japanese planesets representative of these countries WW2 aeronautical involvement? I really don't understand how you can support that statement.

Aces High is, by definition, a WW2 MMOG that intends to depict, as close as HTC can, WW2 warfare. In your opinion, WW2 was a US/UK/Germany conflict? In your opinion, WW2 only happened between 43 and 45? I'm sorry, this is an extremely limited view of what Aces High is, represents and stands for.

Have you ever participated in scenarios or flew in historical setups in AvA? Have you never realised how limited is our current planeset? Have you ever felt the frustration when you must pretend that the TBM in front of you is a Blenheim? Or that a Bf-110 may replace a Japanese model? Or that a JU-88 may replace a He-111 over London in BoB? Sir, with all due respect, that is a very egocentric way to think. And, regret to say, totally LW-MAish... Because it can't even be MW-MAish or EA-MAish...

I'm tired of this "Hangar Queen" talk. All the Late War uber-rides are "Hangar Queens" - when they were not melted in junkyards - in museums all over the world in our days. These "Hangar Queens" were the mainstays of all airforces involved in this particular conflict until considered obsolete and replaced. All countries, not only three. All years, not only the last. All Theaters of Operations, not only a MA Pizza war.

We don't need more Spitfires. We don't need more Bf-109's. We don't need more P-38's or P-47's. We don't need B-29's and we don't need the Nuke. We don't need Meteors, F-86's or Mig-15's. To make Aces High complete, we need a dozen of fundamental models.

What we don't need is this closed mind attitude.

We will get you load o' Spits right after we get our LaGGs and Yaks, along with our Ki-43s and G4Ms. Wait, can't forget the IAR 80 and 81, nor Beaufigher or Blenheim, or especially the "junker" called the He-111. Heck, even an actual P-40E would come before more Spitfires.

<--- Would love to see the Seafire LIII modelled.  I remember when the old spitfire Vc was the #1 for kills a/c in AH :)

So what you are asking for is essentially only the latest and greatest high performance birds be added?  Might as well limit the plane set to just a few planes then or make it Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe.  Since the majority of the planes in the game don't have that kind of performance there was little point in adding most of them
