Because it was fun and I like vintage air combat aircraft.

I expect it to be fun and be where it will be, where HTC wants it to be is where I expect it to be.

1) EAW roten connection.
I will add that the communauté is great, fun and with lot of knowledge.
And above all it's a great way to get ride of the stress of work   :)

2) I don't care of the direction of AH ... if I find it fun I stay else I will leave.
IMO the HTC team know the direction and that's good  ;).

  • 1a Aces High had a better product then Air Warrior & Warbirds.
  • 1b It was continually improved and I enjoy playing the game.
  • 2a HTC is well aware of the competition and the wishs of the players. They understand thier product, the flightsim community, and the business better then any I know of. Since they are closer to it and things change daily in this environment, I simply see it going in a possitive direction.
  • 2b I leave that in the hands of HTC. I am very pleased with the things that are happening.

After eleven years playing online flightsims and interfacing with the people involed in the industry. I can honestly say that for my money HTC does the best job and is commited to building the kind of product I enjoy playing. FOR ME ITS REALLY THAT SIMPLE

1) I wanted to fly WWII fighters online, and heard about WB and AH.  I DLed both.  Jumped into WB first because it had offline AI I could practice against.  Thought, graphics and sound are ok...   Jumped into AH offline and said "this is more like it!"  started up the trial 2 weeks after a couple of days (and convincing 2 online friends to try it out so I could die with someone I knew).  been hooked ever since.

2)  I see it continuing in the direction it's going in right now.  Stimulus candy being added (DX8 upgrade, e.g.), more planes (hopefully fleshing out all country's planesets, with some good early war options for scenarios), new strat elements (they've talked about trains already), and other gameplay enhancements.  What I'd like to see...  the fleshed out planesets for each country, mainly for scenario use.  I'd like to see more subscribers over all.  I'd like to see more people interested in the historical scenarios, so that we could have them more often than just the weekends.

I was tired of WBs and was excited to see what HTC would com up with.  I love it more now then I did in beta.

Hard to say.  I dont wnat AH to become an AW arcade clone.  I would like to think the game part will stay pretty constant but the complexity and accuracy of the simulation increases.

Tried it initially mainly because WB connex generally were very poor. Also because I had just finished a series of sorties where I had unloaded the majority of a Spit's 20mm into other fighters from Dead 6 o'clock and 200 yards and watched them fly off after the guns went dry. That started to get too me after a while.

Where is it going? Easy. It's "going where the money is". Has to, or else it won't survive. Where's the money? Right now the response to another game shows that a more combined arms approach is appealing to a lot of people. This could change though.

For me, the nice thing is that this game grows step by step. New items are added to a system that already works. (Yes, there are a few things that aren't perfect. Always are in any game. However, this progression is working far better than the other alternative which remains basically unplayable and far from what was intended.)

In short, I'm betting 2 years from now will see a detailed "combined arms" opportunity that actually works on normal computers.

Or maybe not.  :) But I have faith in HTC. They keep improving it, so I'm following along and enjoying myself. As long as that continues, I'm happy.

NHFoxtro:

1)  What was your reason for joining AH
------------------------------------------

I kept hearing promises of great things to come from Gamestorm/Kesmai/EA, but they never followed through.  I finally came to the conclusion that AW was never going to improve, and I needed to find somewhere else to hang my hat.

-------------------------------------------
and what do you think about it since then?
------------------------------------------

It's gotten better and better and better, and keeps getting better and better and better and better and better.

------------------------------------------
2)Were do you see AH going in the next 2 years
------------------------------------------

I'm no psychic, but when I close my eyes and concentrate on AH's future, I see dweebs, dweebs, and more dweebs.

--------------------------------------------
and what direction would you like to see it go?
------------------------------------------

I'd like to see more numerous and more populated *historical* events.

1) Hadn't flown WarBirds for about two years, but was at a real stressful time in my life and needed a stress reliever.  D/L WarBirds, then looked around for the sites of old squadrons that I knew.  squealing Pigs site mentioned Aces High, so I went to HTC's page, found out it was made by HiTech & Pyro.  I deleted my WarBirds download, opened my AH account and the rest (including the stress) is history.

2) Whatever.  It was fun a year ago, it's fun now, and I'm sure it'll be fun in another two years.

The reason I joined is different. It was the cost. I use to play Fighter OPs which many of you never heard of. It was a spin off of Warbirds made for AOL exclusively. Cost was 1.99 an hour and you didn't get a 10th of what WB gave you. So one of the guys who played told me about AH and I downloaded it.

Now, I like the way HTC has kept the game going, I was a little sceptical about the 1.06 upgrade, but they proved me wrong.

I see AH in the next two years keeping up the tradition of beating the compatition into Tarmatt to be the best multiple player Flight Sim on the internet.

The direction that I would like to see them go is ground warfare.(and they just might since were getting trains  :))I'd like to see more GV's and player controlled infantry.

A historical Event with infantry and GV's on the ground as well as furballen above would be more fun than sitting in your tank hoping you'll see a bandit you can take a shot at. :)

1) What was your reason for joining AH and what do you think about it since then?

I joined AH when EA announced they had canned the new version of AW and canned the volunteer staff. (I was a TOS team member for almost 2 years).

2)Were do you see AH going in the next 2 years, and what direction would you like to see it go?

Since I joined in March of this year, I have seen more upgrades and improvements to AH than I saw in the last 4 years of AW.
I look forward to the introduction of new aircraft, such as Vals and Kates to add to the IJN force from WW2 (among other aircraft to be introduced).  The sky is the limit with Pyro and company.  :)  Thanks guys

What Thunder said..

& also would like to see more scenarios, but that's not in HT's hands, nor should it be. Scenarios are player creations, they just work better that way.

I won't use this space (MOSSIE) to push any certain (MOSSIE) planes I'd like to (MOSSIE) see added (MOSSIE).  :)

1) I left AW when the lack of progress and misinformation became intolerable.

2a) I see AH as becoming a late war WWII online clone (N.B. this is not meant as disparegment, but to show I think that in two years HTC will have an integrated air/land/sea persistant universe battle ground)

2b) That prospect boors me to tears. I have zero interest in anything but flight sims. I'm looking for "Battle of Britain online", late war hot rods don't "do" it for me, but AH is absolutly the best around at the moment.

1) I got tired of slaughtering the AI in EAW and didn't feel like going back to WB.  I had been following AH off and on since beta (even played the beta once) and when 1.03 was released I was goaded into subscribing.  I've been generally pleased with the service since then.

2) I think that HTC will take it where they see the most profit to be made while keeping it as something that they enjoy playing.

I would like to see more gameplay elements added.  The roads and rails mentioned in recent news are a good sign of that, but I would like to see a detailed production and supply model as well.  I would like the ground war to be fleshed out (I have a friend who would love that) by adding the T-34/76, M1A4 Sherman, fixed terrain such as higher polygon count hills, fixed bushes and trees and villages/towns/cities.  I would like to see the focus year of AH become 1943 rather than 1944/45.  In my opinion 1943 is the most balanced and interesting year of the war.

[QB]1)  What was your reason for joining AH and what do you think about it since then?

Warbirds got old, after 6 year of playing it, connections to North Carolina sucked, progress of the game became stagnant when Pyro and HT left, so, I came over to AH permanently around V.44 (goofed around in V.34>> )  "Ya come along way, baby" describes it best, customer service is number one in the industry.

2)Were do you see AH going in the next 2 years, and what direction would you like to see it go?

I'm willing to continue bank rolling HiTech and Pyro, they've been getting my money for a number of years now, so that in itself shows the trust, and acceptance of their direction.  They lead, I follow. I'm not hesitant to call foul if I don't like the direction.
