Some flight envelope stuff
« on: December 19, 2001, 01:48:00 PM »
I dug a bit in the NACA server and found couple documents which contain some inreresting stuff.

First one is NACA TN 1719 which contain a flight envelope for the P-51D at 8850lbs. The shape of the envelope is convex below mach 0.6 so this appears to be right stuff. A quick comparison with calculated P-51B envelope (at 9300lbs) shoved less than 0.5g difference and 1g stall also was about right area. This document also contains Clmax values in the turn (a bit lower).

Another document, NACA TN 1734 contains Clmax data for the P-47. This data confirms that values in the Aero Digest 9/45 are correct.
