Remember, icon distance is in yards, altitude is in feet.

Divide that 7.7 or 8k up  by 3.

So out there, yes, lucky most likely, good shot in the manned gun, very likely.
Perfect eyesight, perfect hand eye coordination, and years to practice make it very possible.

Actual muzzle velocity was dependent on ammunition used and environmental conditions.  Range was limited by tracer burnout, at which point the projectile was destroyed.
