hrmm.... well.....Bill Simmons wrote about this at great length, noting that Tiger has never really been in a position to blow off steam in his life (military dad, scholarship athlete, corporate schill most of his life, etc).
I have some degree of sympathy simply because Tiger has never asked us to engage him in his personal life, the way many celebrities do. He's never tried to sell it as part of his package. He's a great golfer and a winner, and that's why you should buy Product X. He's never tried to hold himself up as a moral paragon or a great husband. He's been very dilligent about keeping his worlds apart (lest you kill independent Tiger!). As such, since he never tried to make his private life my business before, I'm not sure why it's supposed to be my business NOW.
Mostly, though, I have a rule - I don't get too wrapped up in any "sports" story that also runs on the cover of Us Magazine.
