Game is no longer in development. Publisher can't afford to pay the developer to fix it. Developer has moved on to other projects to put food on the table. The modding community has fixed a lot of the bugs on their own.

I wish they would release the code to someone who's willing to fix it and further modify. They have no financial gain anymore by keeping to the code. A convenient leak would be welcome. What has become of Falcon since then?

Publisher still holds the right to the series, so the developers can't release anything without permission.

Yes, I was talking about the publisher.

ok ok .. I admit ..

..I am spoiled by Aces High ..and World of Warcraft .. you know, games that work :)

Bug fests are just not my event.

The latest patch (1.3) for Hearts of Iron helped a lot .. bein a board type war game I dont expect to zing thru
the Battle of France an such, seems like they tweaked up the AI so the french are much more aggresive ..they keep pokin holes in my lines .. I keep squeezin em off like a ripe zit :)
Eventually they run outta armies. Takes awhile but it's a good fight ..gotta have mobile reserves :)

All in all a good patch, I can actually click a button and it will work most of the time instead of being frozen in lag city.

Can't afford to pay the developer?  The publisher already paid the developer for the job the first time.  Why should they have to pay them again to fix their mess?  Their lucky there isn't any organized consumer agency watching out for this.  Sell you a defective game and refuse to fix it... BS..

Umm... it's usually the publisher that screws up games by forcing developers to release game prematurely.

They both suck.  You have each one pointing their finger at the other saying it's their fault but the end result is nothing gets done and the consumer is screwed.   :joystick:

I don't consider myself "screwed". I enjoy the game immensely. The only thing I really miss is a multi player campaign mode.

If you enjoy board wargames ..it's all of it.

I really get into all the different ways you can go .. truly epic in scale .. er ...altho ..it would be hard to conquer the world if you started with Ireland -grin- .. and yes, you can :)

I have yet to try anything other than Germany .. just tryin different ideas out .. some work, some dont.
Need infantry .. I build more than Hitler did, and more panzer divisions with more panzer brigades than he did.
Typical loadout I find works very well is 3 brigades of infantry, 1 of arty for an infantry division.
3 brigades of light tanks with one of motorized and later mechanized infantry for my panzer divisions.
..then.. when I get 5 brigade divisions researched ..I add a marine brigade to my infantry and another tank brigade to my panzers.

They get real mean.. just beat up on stuff :)

I'm trying to benefit from the combined arms bonus, while trying to reduce unnecessary supply requirements. 1 medium tank, 2 mechanized and SP-art brigades. 2 medium tanks and 1 mechanized brigades doesn't offer anything else than higher hard attack, but adds more strain on the supply chain. Since the enemies do not have that many tanks I've chosen to keep supply requirements down a bit. I keep marine brigades in their own divisions and sometimes add arty or engineer for support. Most of my marine divisions have only 3 brigades. Then I also have 5 brigade infantry and armoured divisions, usually supported by engineers and artillery. For special needs there are a few medium and heavy armoured divisions; medium divisions for speed and heavy divisions for dealing with big issues that can't be addressed in timely manner; pretty much anything that hasn't been dealt with before the heavies finally arrive, at which point the speedier divisions can continue to push onwards, instead of being stuck with a stubborn enemy.

thing I noticed about marine brigades is ..if you add them to an infantry division .. they can invade as they are considered a 'marine division' now.
They cost a bit more to produce than normal infantry and take a bit longer .. so sprinkling them among normal infantry I can get my 10 'marine' divisions for the initial beach head in England ..then I just bring in Guderian and company ..it seems to work fairly well if I can get 30 or more divisions into England, 10 divisions at a time :)

Lately I have been very sucked into Dragon Age: Origins .. havin a bit of fun tryin different ways of doing things there too :)
