Diplomacy (Aces High)
« on: November 29, 2009, 12:14:19 PM »
The game is on.

Spring 1901 was marked by botched orders and confusion while France, Germany and Russia made decisive moves.

Still confusion in the Fall, but some improvement.

I'm kinda disappointed...I was thinking this was going to be a game of Diplomacy but with combat being resolved (somehow) via AH.

This game is much more than I figured it'd be. I just wish the deadlines were shorter. :D

What is the "Bounce" Move?

All units posses equal "strength," so if two units by themselves/two units each supported by one other/two units each supported by two others/ect try to move into an unoccupied tile together, they will "bounce" off each other and remain in place. If a unit is Holding and is attacked by an equal strength, the attacker will "bounce" back to where it came from and the unit under attack will remain in position. As evidenced by Sweden/Denmark/Kiel in Fall 1901, that can cause problems for units trying to move in step.

Looks like a few people working through the learning curve and the most experienced player has control of the most powerful starting nation.   :bolt:

Good Luck guys <S>  Diplomacy is a great game.

If you're talking about France, that's me, and this is the first time I've played. :D Though I don't know which is the "most powerful starting nation"...since I've never played. :uhoh

May as well give the low-down on the player setup. I don't see why anybody'd care.

(Wow, what great image quality... :lol)

Yes I was talking about France!  You are doing well for not ever playing. <S>  Russia and Germany seem to know what they are doing too.  Seems Russia has no friends though.  Work England to beat up Germany with ya, cause ya know Russia has to be gunning for him.   :D

Good luck OOZ, I should say France is the most preferred starting nation.

Sorry, my screencaps aren't as quality as Sandy's.

Fall 1902 moves.

England and Germany engaged France in Belgium.

Russia and Germany continue to slog it out in the eastern front.

Russia and Austria are effectively stalled.

Big gains by Turkey while Italy meanders about the Mediterranean.

Nice to see that you've kept AH Diplomacy going, Sandman.

When the WWI aircraft make an appearance, I'll be back. Until then, I'm hanging out at the Matrix Games forums playing war games.
