A chronicle from the Theater...

Absolutely. Theater elevates spirit.

No matter how many actors, the show is served, and well endowed.

After all this time flying in MA, I was starting to forget what a true air combat simulator is. Now my memory has been refreshed. No more dots inflight, no more neon billboard icons yelling "I'm coming for you!". Bardar only above 500 ft. AGL. SA at its best, and thrill all around.

Yesterday was my first day in CT, and I have to say It left a bitter taste. The bitter comes from the acknowledgement that my abilities (especially my SA) have to sharpen a LOT if I want to live a reasonable amount of time airborne. Dunno how, I finished all my sorties near Sesame Street, singing the song used to teach children to count...only that I was always counting bogeys on my 6.

A few points after 2 hours playing:

  • Fighting is VERY intense. Even with numbers as low as 20/30 people, I've never had such an intense sensation about things not going under my control. You could never discard a bogey gaining on your 6 or bouncing you while you try to down his mate.
  • Planeset is very important, but not crucial. SA is essential. Good SA definitely makes the difference. Even above pilot skills.
  • Lonewolfing is really risky. More, lonewolves are normally easy meat. A squad, couple, a bunch of friends/colleagues, whatever, better than nothing. 6 calls and dot calling make the difference between a victory and a gangbang.
  • Once you get to the action, coordination will make life easier, and lengthier  ;)
  • The atmosphere is lightyears ahead MA's. Almost no rude words, almost no whineing, and nice attitude all around. It was a trip back to beta, I guess.   :)

If I could modify some, I would: a) get rid of GPS, and make navigation some interesting task for buff crews. b) Allow base capturing, but on a different way than what is the current MA situation. I would make airfields A LOT, A REALLY LOT tougher. I would make rebuild times longer, except for ack, really longer. I would make 35 the number of drunks needed to take a base: you need to put 4 transports there, and if some of the drunks are killed, you still got a chance. Drunk's life spawn: 5 minutes, so you better coordinate.  ;)

Now my eyes are open, I doubt you will see me in any other place than in CT. So, to all players on-line yesterday, a big <S>. It's been really a blast. For players in MA: So long. It's been a useful playground for me, but now it's time to fight, and I'm in a hurry: they are waiting to shoot me down in CT   :)

Cheers,

Pepe

<S> Pepe!

I guess I was on the right end of your lack of SA a couple of times yesterday.  :)

Couldn't agree more about the overall attitude in the CT. Which IMHO is only as it should be!

Flying smart pays off big rewards in the CT.
Things like

Calling location and alt of bandits before engageing.

Hooking up with a wingman, any wingman, even if he ignores you & you follow him around like a puppy.

I try my very hardest to be helpful in a fight without stealing kills. I slip up from time to time, we all do. A big furball I'll shoot at anything that gets in front of me. However when I happen on 1vs1 I figure my teammate has first shot at him until he gets in damaged, gets shot down, or yells for help. That doesn't mean I won't saddle up on the con if I can. It does mean the guns stay cold except in self defense.

Overall the cooperation level I've seen especially on the axis side really has been terrific.

Last, it may be the hardest thing in the world to send a <S> after getting shot down.
But bite back the frustration & send it.

Actually, I am not the great fun of CT. Just adding a right planeset is not enough for me to wish to servive and return home. I need some other motivation to make me feeling it is a real.

...BUT...

Some other day, while flying spitIX there, I made some outflanking, and gone back low from east to some german field. With short radar no one paid attention to the low dot aproaching from the mainland. So I caught 8 190 while they gained alt, dived under them, and gone through them then spraying my hispanos, got 2, dammaged 1, and it was AWESOME! Funny thing is they understood what was going only when I was out.  :)

I was in that arena the other day for the first time since coming back to AH. It was alot different than MA and all good I might add. I really enjoyed it alot although I was alone.(no squaddies on) I didn't have a wingman and tried to tag along with one but he didnt seem to want me there so..I lone wolfed it..Got 1 kill and died promptly after tha at the hands of several and didnt try that again.
If I may ask tho...Does everything work the same?  Base caputres and what not? I ask this because the was not alot of base capturing going on.
But it did seem to be alot more cordgile in there for sure.
Thanks for the answers in advance!!!!!!!!!
