Absolutely. Theater elevates spirit.
No matter how many actors, the show is served, and well endowed.
After all this time flying in MA, I was starting to forget what a true air combat simulator is. Now my memory has been refreshed. No more dots inflight, no more neon billboard icons yelling "I'm coming for you!". Bardar only above 500 ft. AGL. SA at its best, and thrill all around.
Yesterday was my first day in CT, and I have to say It left a bitter taste. The bitter comes from the acknowledgement that my abilities (especially my SA) have to sharpen a LOT if I want to live a reasonable amount of time airborne. Dunno how, I finished all my sorties near Sesame Street, singing the song used to teach children to count...only that I was always counting bogeys on my 6.
A few points after 2 hours playing:
- Fighting is VERY intense. Even with numbers as low as 20/30 people, I've never had such an intense sensation about things not going under my control. You could never discard a bogey gaining on your 6 or bouncing you while you try to down his mate.
- Planeset is very important, but not crucial. SA is essential. Good SA definitely makes the difference. Even above pilot skills.
- Lonewolfing is really risky. More, lonewolves are normally easy meat. A squad, couple, a bunch of friends/colleagues, whatever, better than nothing. 6 calls and dot calling make the difference between a victory and a gangbang.
- Once you get to the action, coordination will make life easier, and lengthier ;)
- The atmosphere is lightyears ahead MA's. Almost no rude words, almost no whineing, and nice attitude all around. It was a trip back to beta, I guess.
If I could modify some, I would: a) get rid of GPS, and make navigation some interesting task for buff crews. b) Allow base capturing, but on a different way than what is the current MA situation. I would make airfields A LOT, A REALLY LOT tougher. I would make rebuild times longer, except for ack, really longer. I would make 35 the number of drunks needed to take a base: you need to put 4 transports there, and if some of the drunks are killed, you still got a chance. Drunk's life spawn: 5 minutes, so you better coordinate. ;)
Now my eyes are open, I doubt you will see me in any other place than in CT. So, to all players on-line yesterday, a big <S>. It's been really a blast. For players in MA: So long. It's been a useful playground for me, but now it's time to fight, and I'm in a hurry: they are waiting to shoot me down in CT :)
Cheers,
Pepe
