RIP Richard 'Dambuster' Todd, actor and soldier
« on: December 22, 2009, 04:14:46 PM »
Having been away from the AH boards for a few days, this is the first opportunity I've had to lament the passing of the British actor Richard Todd. Forever famous for playing Guy Gibson in 'The Dambusters', he was a also a brave soldier, one of the first paratroopers to land in Normandy in the early hours of 6th June 1944 to secure the left flank of the Allied invasion force. He re-created his own real-life role when he played a 6th Airborne Division officer in the film 'The Longest Day.'

Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?
Apparently I'm in the 20th FG 'Loco Busters', or so the legend goes.

Sad indeed. Another one gone. He was also a fellow Irishman, something I never knew. Born in Dublin, his Father played rugby for Ireland. :salute
