From what I understand, in its own right, the WWI arena will be a bit of a 'Beta' to test the new damage system for the rest of the planeset. It's still a lasting introduction, though, not a beta in the traditional sense.
There shouldn't be any need for a beta for the WWI arena since all they're doing beside introducing the new damage system is adding 4 new planes, which they do all the time (maybe not 4 but... :) )

Sonicblu...there was a post not long after the con where HiTech said there would be a beta test arena just a few days before the WWI stuff goes live...there was something he was still dealing with on the propeller formulas for WWI aircraft. He also said the announcement would be made only 1 day before the beta is released so keep an eye on the announcements forum.
