damage question
« on: January 07, 2010, 07:43:37 PM »
there have been several times that I have taken damage to the flaps.

visually only one flap is gone.

does that mean:

flaps still opperate?

if only one flap lowers, will it induce a roll acting more like an aileron than a flap?

Yes, the other flap will still work, and it will produce more of a rolling effect on some planes than others, some it may still be beneficial to have it lowered at low speed, some planes will go out of control.

sometimes a damaged flap may look to be shot off, but it will be jammed in which ever position it was in when hit. So if you have 2 notches out and get hit, when you raise the flaps the damaged one will stay 2 notches down causing the drag to that wing.
