if you're trying to dive-bomb a CV with a lone P-47 you're pretty screwed no matter WHAT you do.

naah, I have a technique which is survivable 9/10 times, dont take a single ping 7/10 times. unless theres a really good 5" gunner on board ... in which case, yup you're screwed

This is a Perks only issue.  Your score was still credited with damage.  Or at least it used to be.

Yesterday I flew a P47N loaded with 2 X 1000pounders and 1 X 500pounder over to a CV
I had the most perfect hit ever on it, my text overflowed with it, I could not read it all.
I had lit up 12 Soft guns - 4 hard guns - 1 Armored gun - ...

But the fact was:
I released all my bombs and on my pass I got hit by ack and blew up.
All the bombs hit after I died.
So I go back to the hanger to check points and to be amazed: 0.00 points

It would be grate to be rewarded.
Although I see a problem with bombers if they bail before the hits...
Or points could be cut in 25% for bailing and 50% for getting shor or something...

If your're dead before they hit, no perks, no points, no score. (Your damage hit% will actually decrease)

And that's how it should be. Too much suicide stuff going on already.

I have to disagree. 

If the scrolling text box records damage, so does the ranking system.

ie. "soft gun destroyed"  and so on.  It tells you this information because you are credited with it's destruction.

You don't get any perks, points & death for damage that happens after your death, even though the information text will be displayed when you are in tower.
Easy to test it yourself: Drop bombs from alt on a target, bail and exit sortie immediately, while your bombs are still falling. You will get the messages, but no perks or any points for score.

Nope... only when you start a new sortie. You can sit in the tower.

No, if you RE-UP the bombs reset, but if you get shot down and sit in the tower you're cool.
