B17 - FIX THE RUDDER/TAILS

Ok I love flying the B17.. actually I love gunning on the B17 but what the @#$@ is with
the rudder/tail/elevator/wings ?

Every time a fighter makes a pass on me (fw, spit, even a p51!) I lose either a rudder, tail or a wing. I have NEVER lost just an engine.. in fact I have never lost an engine I always lose a rudder/tail/wing. I mean considering the fact that the B17 has four engines, has HUGE wings you would think they would be a little stronger than to rip off at every "little" bullet that hits them.

As for the tail/rudder/elevator weren't they made of steel or something??

Realistically if these parts of the aircraft did indeed fall off so easily then wouldn't you think the B17 would have had a couple tails/elevators ? maybe it would have been a biplane as well?

Anyways just saying it seems really unrealistically to lose a wing/elevator every single flight.

I've been flying the buff some lately and I'll agree that it seems weak compared to the historical evidence.  Many times I get destroyed in one pass, and thats frustrating.  Yet many is the time different fighters make a pass each, taking out an engine or its oil, or popping a fuel tank, or ganking my aileron.  Try to fly it with no ailerons sometime, LOL.

Actually I just tried the new update .39 It appears the B17 is a lot sturdier now at least with the flew flights I made.

I actually had my wings/tail/elevator survive a couple passes AND some engines got conked out. It still seems a little weak though since the only way I actually died was when something got ripped off.

Swoosh:

We have people shooting with _much_ higher accuracy than what LW had in 44/45. Anton Hackl said the new pilots shot at 2% accuracy or less, meaning 2 190s had to empty all cannon ammo to destroy a single B-17 since they were expected to go down after 20 - 30 or so hits from the rear. I know from my WB days I can shoot at well over 60% at a level flying bomber from various angles. It doesn't take long to get enough rounds on target with 4 20mm shooting over 700 rounds per minute.

The B-17 better be made to withstand the 20 - 30 hits, and not be fudged for playabilitys sake.
