Not hard at all to get kills in an F4F with convergance at 450....Try that.

If dogfighting is the name of the game, I'd suggest 300-350 yards. Think about what range most of the accurate and feasible shots take place at. The ranges are not when the indicator says "600" (which means the target is between 400-599 yards away). Most of the shot are well inside the 400 yard indicator.
There are THREE things to keep in mind when debating the convergence issue with .50 cals:
First, getting as many shots on target as close proximity as possible to maximize the damage.
Second, the trajectory of the projectiles is a factor, setting the conv to 650 is going to lend to shooting low at 300 where most of your shooting occurs. it is easir to aim high at 600+ yards than to aim low at 400-. That is a bigger factor with the larger calibers then the .50's, but still.
Third, the farther those projectiles travel the less energy they have upon impact. Praying that you hit something at 650+ yards is very different that being confident that you'll hit at 400- yards. Dont pee into the wind.
