The main gun was unable to fire with the rocket system mounted. However, it was simple to jettison it.
Info about firing the main gun from Hunnicutt's definitive book on the Sherman:"In the original design, the elevation arm was clamped directly to the gun barrel by a split ring and the cannon could not be fired until the launcher was jettisoned. This feature, combined with jettisoning difficulties, made the tank mounted launchers extremely unpopular with the troops. Field modifications attempted to correct this condition by removing the elevation arm from the cannon barrel and attaching it to the top of the gun shield. This permitted the cannon to be fired with the launcher in place, but the smaller movement of the gun mount limited the range of elevation."On the T34E1 launcher, the elevation arm was attached to extensions from the gun shield thus retaining the full elevation range and allowing the cannon to be fired without jettisoning the launcher."
Sorry OOZ your wrong.
T34 CalliopeMounted on a M4 Sherman the T34 rocket launcher had 60 tubes that fired a 4.5 inch rocket to a maximum effective range of 3900 yards.A problem with the T34 was tube life, the tubes started to break up after only four salvoes and tube life was only 15 to 20 salvoes. The rockets could be fired singly or in salvo, ALL 60 ROCKETS could be fired in 30 SECONDS, and each round impacted with the equivalency of a 105mm round. The Calliope's elevation worked off the elevation of the main gun and the main gun could not be fired as long as the Calliope was attached. The T34 could be jettisoned hydraulically in a matter of seconds however. (Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)EDIT:didnt have AA rockets
does anyone know how many perks this is gonna cost?
Could this possibly be the first artillery vehicle we get?
anyone thats fired pt rockets or sdkf rockets know that the best way to aim is close your eyes and hope for the best. The rockets probably wont be an issue.
I was just going to say that.
