LANCASTER III AMMO & STUFF

I am very diapointed in the amount of ammo for the tail gunner.Historicaly the ammo load was for 4 .303 browning with 2500 rounds per gun.I have a neighbour who flew as a radio op in lancs, now he can't tell me exactly the load, but he confirmed they seldom ran out.
Please all lanc pilots push for a loadout which will give us a chance!

SELECTOR,

Our Lancaster MkIII does not have the common quad of .303s in the tail, its got 2 .50s.  The leathality is much higher with the .50s, but they carry much less ammo.

SELECTOR I had the time of my life last weekend ... I am in Memphis,TN on A project  and A friend of mine is connected with the MEMPHIS BELL that is stationed here.. I was one of the few people to get to sit in the Memphis bell and one of the (Q) that I had asked was what is the normal ammo load on typical bombers.. his reply was not so simple.. they did not load out by #'s but time.. he said typicly enough for 60 seconds of firing continously... This probably did not answer your (Q) but that was the responce I got... IF you or any body else would like pic's of inside of the Memphis Bell let me know..    :D   :D

Karnak.

Go to the hangar and see what it sez. 4x303.

But I do think we have the .50 cals anyhow. If that is the case, the loadout is correct (it may even have been smaller, even that it may seem like sending people on suicide runs every time).

But if we do have the .303s I'd for one love to see in increase in the ammo. It's also a question of game play. Often we don't have enough (historical) numbers of lancs to fly in defensive formations, so an increase would mean a more balanced play. imho  :)

More than often the tail gun runs out for me just dto dust off a couple of fighters - if it isnt destroyed right away  :)

Wolfskin1,

That is an old bug.  It is listing the 4 .303s (none of which are in the tail), but not the 2 .50s.

The Lacaster MkIII in AH has:

Position 2: Nose Turret, 2 x .303 Machine Guns
Position 3: Dorsal Turret, 2 x .303 Machine Guns
Position 4: Tail Turret, 2 x .50 Machine Guns

So you see, the 4 .303s listed in the hangar are those that are on the nose and dorsal turrets, there is no mention of the guns on the tail turret.
