Hi Res
« on: January 18, 2010, 07:45:55 AM »
Basically I fly in a lower res is there any way of switching the film up to the hi res pack after it is filmed? I know this might sound a dumb request but I want to beautify some films I'm working on.

You have to change the in game resolution.

The graphics settings for both the film viewer and game are tied together and are not able to be set separately. (Though I wish it were)

Ahh thought that  :( it would be a good idea to be able to be able to run low settings in game and hi for the films, makes making a decent looking film very difficult  :headscratch: Especially seeing that most of them end up on youtube and are in effect a promotion for the game to anyone watching them. A few people's vids aside most are not 'easy on the eye'

You can do what you are asking.  The graphics settings in-game control the film viewer graphics as well.  So, fly in whatever resolution/graphic detail you want.  Then when it's time to make a film, change these in game and they will show as such in film viewer.  It works that way for me anyways (unless I'm fundamentally misunderstanding what you are asking).

'Tis true (from what I've experienced).  Run AH2 offline to set game quality, then quit.  Fire up film viewer and render away.  But...you will have many of the same performance issues, so record in half-speed and ramp it back up in your post-AH2 video editor.
My Current Rig:
GigaByte GA-X99-UD4 Mobo w/ 16Gb RAM
Intel i7 5820k, Win7 64-bit
NVidia GTX 970 4Gb ACX 2.0
Track IR, CH Fighterstick, CH Pro Throttle, CH Pro Pedals

I wanted it more combat footage, even so although aces high runs x 100 times better on my laptop than it did my vid card is of the cheap and nasty variety looks like I'll have to get a top rig and then get some sortie flew :(

I think he means that you record the video you want in your normal resolution, then go to offline, set resolution to max (or whatever), THEN go to film viewer and make your film.  I have no idea, just saying how I interpreted his post.

Amazing you could actually recruit that much suck into one squad.

Yes, that is what I meant.   Though if your computer has trouble with Hi-res in-game, you probably won't get usable performance in film viewer either.  Running the film at 1/2 speed, recording with Fraps, and then double speed in movie editor may work.
