Umm skip bombs were cylindrical and had a hydrostatic fuse that detonated when they sank to a certin depth, and were covered with wooden slats, when lowered and prepared to drop from the lanc they were spun backwards very fast to add more.....skippyness.  As fars as I know though Lanc skip bombs were only used on that dam raid.

You are thinking of Sir Barnes Wallis' famous "bouncing bomb". He also designed the super-heavy "Tallboy" and "Grand Slam" bombs which were also carried by the Lancaster.

"Skip bombing" is a method of bomb release at very low altitude and high speed, designed to make the bomb "skip" off the impact surface(water or hard ground), making it easier to hit targets with a small planform area but a relatively large side area, eg: ships.

Wobbel, the bouncing bombs were also used by the secret 618 Sqn which operated Mosquito's.  I'm not sure if any were used fully operational but their main intention was for them to be used in the Pacific against the Japanese capital ships.  By the time they had actually got out to the Pacific the war was over.

PS I think the USA may have experimented with a British bouncing bomb.  I remember seeing footage of a Boston/Havoc dropping one too low... it bounced up and took the tail clean off... the plane then disintegrated into the sea
