Enter the world of Free Software.
« on: January 11, 2010, 07:02:37 PM »
I've been thinking about this a lot. Here I am admiring my beautiful Ubuntu 9.10 GNOME desktop, browsing the software repositories, and it struck me like a brick. Why can't I see Aces High 2 under the 'Games' section?

Imagine if AH2 was cross platform. Thousands upon thousands of entertainment hungry linux zealots would take to AH2 skies, willingly throwing their $ just because the game satisfies their definition of software quality.

An untapped market ready to be taken by storm.

This is genius like! I should be granted free access to AH2 after this.

You can run AH2 on linux through a program that runs Windows virtually.

I suspect your talking about WINE.

That will not satisfy the Linux zealots.

nope, Peabody ( or it might be his son or / his father, I forget which one ) has got Aces high working using Ubuntu? and also under another type as well.... do a search in the Hardware & Software forum......

as Spikes posted, it will work and has for sometime now, if I recall correctly.......

All of it is important; most of it vital; and all of it just too much for one brain to absorb in 1-2 lessons" TC

From those threads I conclude the easiest way to run AH2 with Linux was to install propriety software.

It seemed people had issues with WINE.

What I wish for is a version of AH2 which doesn't need a linux imitation of the windows api to run under linux.

Just double click 'n play ;)

I wish.. i wish.. .....

The problem with Linux is really that no version of "Linux" truly exists.....  It's so darn customizable that it becomes pointless for software developers to produce a "universal" version.  9 times out of 10 the Linux Community will "approve" a version of software but it will only work until a new version of Linux comes out........  Which will be tomorrow.  Afterall, it's a closed open source......   :(
