Very easy solution for the wife ack...a little maintenance in between sorties...when you get to the tower, go to the wife-ack and rub it a little for luck...as soon as it starts squeaking you're gonna have to break out the multi-tool and use it before the wife-ack blows up in your face...for some reason it doesn't take long for the squeak to turn into a full blown break down.

Solved my wife-ack issue several years ago - I divorced her.

Mine does not come with a shut-down button - or at least I haven't been able to find it...
