Ranger Sound Pack

Help!
Hey all, I have read several posts about this particular soundpack but didn't think any applied to my issue. I just downloaded the Ranger sound pack and everything was great for a while. I was part of a huge Lancaster mission, we had been flying the mission for 15-20 minutes or so and then my computer crashed. I tried to log back in, joined my squadie as a spectator in his Lancaster group,  and to no avail the same thing happened in less than 1 minute. Is this an issue with this particular sound pack? I have checked to make sure I was not running integrated sound and I am not. My computer is more than adequate to handle Aces High and I have never a crash/ disco issue like this. Any help would be much appreciated!

I run the same sounds you downloaded & have never had a crash due to sounds.  If you were in flight for 15-20 minutes, I don't see how it was the sounds, as your engine sound & such is the same sound looped from the time you start your engines.  If it was a sound issue, it would happen immediately.  Sorry I can't be more help, I just really don't think it was due to sounds, as I run the exact same & never have any problems.  It would also be happening to everyone using the pack if it was a corrupt sound.  I guess remove the Lanc folder from your Sounds folder for the time being & see what happens.  Good luck.

I had a problem with random crashes while playing Aces High. I ran "Mem Test" and it showed some errors with my memory. So now I am waiting on replacement memory.

The HiFi sounds that you can download will put a strain on the on-board sound chip (if that's what you use).  Modest to low-end systems may run the game Ok with default sounds, but when you add HiFi sound, sooner or later you may encounter stuttering, crashing or other anomolies.  Boost your ram and if you don't have one, get a dedicated sound card.

Thanks for the advice all! I do have a soundblaster Audigy sound card within my system. I am going to update my drivers, defrag, and do some tweaking to see if I can resolve the issue. Also, I am a little unsure on how to determine wether or not the integrated audio has been disabled and my sound card is the primary source of audio. Anyway, the sound pack is awesome! I do love the sounds especially since I am a spit pilot. Love to hear the Merlin! Thanks for all your help.

Oh, thought I would add that after sitting a while in frustration after yesterdays events, I decided to log back in. This time I flew for a while and nothing happened. Then I got in a C-47 to deliver airfield supplies and after the sortie ended (back at the tower) it happened again. Damn the luck.

get rid of the self shadow and water reflection see if your discos stop.  if they do then start adding stuff a little at a time.  I was getting dumped 2 or 3 times a day for the past 3 weeks.  have a decent computer and fr never went below 45.  got rid of self shadow discos stopped.  havent had one in 3 days.  then again it could just be the internet due to holiday traffic.  who knows.

its not the ranges sound pack.  its the customs sound pack that is creating the problem  :).
