..and ya .. heard the 111 and the 105 both referred to as 'lead sleds' here an there .. -shrug- ..they did what they had to do tho..
..the 111 was more effective at what it did than the 105's were I gathered, from talkin to pilots who flew both..
..4 105's in on target, 1 comes out .. a hard day up North .. again.

One of the few birds I worked on that inventory decreased fairly rapidly... even after they came back to George.
We had two guys wantin to 'buzz' the lake nearby .. engine quit on one and he went into the lake.
Another was being delivered to the Guard, went in vertical somewhere in the LA Basin, pilot stayed in it to avoid a school and just barely made it out in time. .. stuff like that happened all summer long.

Worst week was losin 2 105's and an F4 ..all in 5 days of ops while I was at George.

There are no easy days on the line.
