Well, this took a slightly different direction than I intended. I feel fairly well "Broke-In". I will take some of the advice, the sincere parts, but mainly I was saying, "Where I've felt I've been for a year". Kind of trying to speak up for newbees. I definitely need to continue to learn and observe, but am OK with my personal progress most days. I just remember how long it took B4 I learned some things, and how much your kill rate improves, game satisfactions improves, we talk about AH more with our friends etc., so thanks for all the input. I hope it helps a few readers besides me.  :rock

I've been on here for a while now, I'm 50 y/o have NEVER played video games, am thrilled to be here, but it surprises me how difficult it is to get mentoring. It takes a long time to learn this game. Yes it's a blast while you're learning, but shouldn't we take newer players/team-mates under our wings? Especially squady's? Some minor things are Sooooo helpful and we're not always too busy to tell someone how to get ship guns trained on hangers or bldgs. or how to set your view preferences, or to zoom all the way in with brackets. Some times the arenas are crowded, I Know, but we often lose battles because the guy next to us has no idea how to...... He even might think he's doing it right, but can't figure out why he's always "Fresh Meat". Please pass on the simple things and mentor the players near you. JMO, & Thanks.  :joystick: P.S. Be nice to little kids too. I've heard a couple really get their feelings hurt & then didn't see them again(I'm a grampa X 7).   :salute

If you don't ask me for help, I have no clue you need it.   I'm not a Trainer, but I will go out of way to help ANYONE who asks for it.

Usually all you have to do is ask, don't take the first smart arse answer you get from someone that don't care as the basis of all in this game, many will gladly help you and answer any questions you have.  First step is to ask.

If you see me in game on the Bish side I will gladly help you out.

Besides, we all hate to see someone drop troops over their own field.....  :lol

I think this is what PM's should be used for and only this, asking a question. Look at the roster and if one of these guys that have said they would help here, or pretty much any name you recognize on the roster would be willing to help. PM that person to ask your question or question. First question might be "do you have a minute?"  :D Then ask away.

Most people will help, and if your using the PM's your not going to get all those "use ALT F4" answers

Agreed....

It is also better to work on learning basics away from LW of MW arenas as they tend to be fairly populated. To get the most from your time with someone it is better off in the TA or DA. Then go to the main arenas and put what you learned into action to perfect it.

Yes, I spent 8 months or so in MW, and felt a little overwhelmed because of my lack of experience gaming. When I felt more comfortable and less "Picked-On" for being hosed so easily, I moved to late war. Just having fun now, but not bashful about asking questions either.

You're welcome. There's enough testosterone on here without me peeing on the wall too.   :x Hope I see you in the game.  Found out that I get Ocular Migraines triggered by too much time on the PC, so sometimes I have to get off fast. So If I ever dump and run in a fight, nobody take it personal. If you've ever had a migraine, or know someone who has, you understand.  :bolt:

I have found a good way to pass along info is with training films. I have generated quite a few for my squad. To mention a few: level bombing, radio operation, town/field bombardment with the cruiser and tank training. What I like to do is have the person view the film then work with the person in the game to see if they got it.

So what I am saying is joining a squad that offers training is very helpful.

I've trained a lot of newbies with video clips that develop skills from "absolute, clueless beginner" up to "ready for online". I hope they continue to help beginners:

have you tried changing the refresh rate on your monitor? or its brightness?

i'm sure others here could help more in that area, but it's probably somethign you can adjust out though.

In some small part i think new players have to know that most of this community is experienced and is very helpful to new and old players.  You just have to keep asking your question(s) on the right communication channels as most during prime-time go ignored, overlooked or get a negative/sarcastic responce from a squeeker or someone just having a bad day.

Start small instead of global when looking for input or answers.  Send a congradulatory message to a player you had a good fight with (win or loose), if the other person responds positively, then politely pry for more feedback on your performance in the fight, where/if your opponent thinks you could use some improvement, etc..  Become familiar with the active members of the training corps, look and see if any of them are online and send them a polite message asking for help/input.

On the subject though of the AH Trainers though, when was the last "Basic ACM Clinic" put on?  Is there one comming up soon (I always like to make them when I can)?
