Radio Window Close
« on: February 17, 2010, 02:24:39 PM »
I haven't figured out a way to assign a switch to close the radio window, it requires hitting the 'Enter' key.
Function can be mapped to Key. But Keys can;t be mapped to hat switches. so how do I assign a control button to be the 'Enter' key? Or is there another way to shrink the radio window?

Thanks to any who know an answer.

No need to post the following:

1. Why do you need to shrink the radio window?
2. Why can't you just use the 'Enter' key?
3. I use the enter key all the time with no problem

that is debateable....... I have keys mapped to 5 of my hats ( totalling over 20 keys being mapped )

what type of stick do you use?

Hey Vinkmann...did you punch the enter key 3 times to try and close that radio window and end up bailing? I had a glitch going once and had the same thing happen...I changed the bail out key after that.

First thing I would do is change the bail out key then you should be able to assign a button for that function on your stick...at least I think that's the sequence I went through....  :headscratch:

I have a CH throttle and stick, which are supposed to be programable, but When I boot AH it seems to override pre-existing buttom memory in favor of it's own file assignments. How do you program your hat switches? Is it outside of the AH software or through it?

That would be funny. In the heat of the action I will sometimes check the radio window to see who's in Vox range, or to get someone's handle correct before getting on the mic. But then it's up on the screen and a distraction, and I's rather not take my hands off the stick just to close the window.

I currently only use CH Manager for syncing up my Fighter Stick/Throttle/Pedals as "ONE" device ( I think that is how Murdr explained it to me? ) is Direct Mode......

I used to combine both CH Manager input so I could do "macros" along with using AH in-game key mapping..... never had problems then either.

but now, I just program everything in Aces High...... thru key mapping

only use CH Control Manager so my PC acknowledges/recognizes my setup and can calibrate in windows/CH Control Manager & in aces high...

as for gyrene's post.... for the "bail out" feature being default to "hit enter 3 times"  I have remapped mine to "hold shift down and hit enter 3 times " so I do not bail accidently....

hope this helps

EDIT: Ack-Ack posted I think, that the newest version of Control Manager does not let you "Calibrate in windows" anymore........ I am using an older version of Control Manager so I, personally, have no problems in either my WinXP pro OS or if I am using my Windows 7  OS.......

My throttle, Pedals, and stick are separate devices with their own USB connections, my OS is Vista (sigh). When I boot up, AH sees the devices and makes a list of each of the buttons and hats and anologs and enables them for assignment through the 'map controllers' menu, but only (it seems) from a pre-determined drop down list. 'Radio window close' is not in the list. I can also 'Map Keys' which will allow me to re-map the keys to the pre-determined drop down list function. AH then saves the file, and recalls it on start up.

I want to do what you are suggesting, but don't know who to assign a macro or single key to one of the controller switches. I think any pre-programmed macros in the CH programable controlers will be overridden when AH recognizes the controller. so programming it outside of the AH environment does work [as far as I've gotten with it], and there is no option in the AH environment for doing it. Or at least I don't know if there is a way.

As far as I know, you are only going to be able to do what you want if you are using the CH Control Manager software. In which case, yes, you can map a switch or hat press to the Enter key, or a string of keys, if you want.

I use the CH control manager software in part because the original sim I played supported only a single controller, and over the years, the very very few other games I've played generally worked better if I had more control than they gave me over the controller.  AH does just about everything I've ever wanted through it's own interface, so I have devolved back to a pretty vanilla profile for use with it over time, and would likely be just fine without it, but I do like the fact that the control manager seems to eliminate all of the wierd calibration mismatches between Windows and AH.

So if I load it CH Manger properly, I think your saying AH will recognize it as the controller and interface with it. Then the manger will interface with my controller and I can program it, which would supliment [not replace] the AH drop down menu assignments?
