One thing to remember with lcds is that response times can be reported in several different ways. The reports are not always comparable. Another issue is with input delay which varies a lot between monitors. Input delay means the delay between actual movement in game and what you see on screen.

Input delay can be real bad so that when you move your head around the image seems to follow like it was attached to a long flexible rod, lagging behind visibly.

Correct, good post Rip.

So how do you find input delay specs?

Woke up this AM to "Honey, the monitor won't come on".   Swap power cables, no dice.  "VC ok"?   It is fine.   Lug our 17" dell CRT back up monitor from the basement and viola!

Looking at this one right now and have my better half, on board.  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236049

It is a 2x Award Winner, which I take somewhat into the issue.

I'm looking at 24" less than $250, for less "Wife Ack".   Anything over would be like a Captured Zeppelin, trying to fly over Berlin in 1943.   Let me know what you guys think.

I purchased one of these recently.....  http://www.viewsonic.com/products/desktop-monitors/lcd/x-series/vx2265wm-fuhzion-lcd.htm
It is only 1 of 2(at the time) 120hz LCD monitors currently being made....  So far, no 24" 120hz exists, or else I would've gotten one..  I cannot explain the difference..  It's almost life like when playing
AH or any game made within the last 3-4 years..

I bought this Acer about 6 months ago and it's been great . Great image quality and Zero ghosting while gaming . I have been messing around running 1440 X 900 aspect  in AH because my 8800 gts isnt quite up to 1920X1080 with AA and hisres .... @ 1440 X900 it gives you a 75 hertz refresh rate which i like .

I have a G92 8800GTS KO, do you have the G80?    If not, I'm running 1920x1080 @ 8Q AA with 60hz rate.

Yep its a G80 ....8800GTS 320 .  I just picked up a 8800 GTX for cheap (30 bucks) so I'm hoping that will solve the issue .  It seems to bench right around the 9800gtx and 8800GTS 512  (G92's) .

Alright, this thread is old, so it might be too late, but don't buy monitors from Newegg... their return policy for flat panels is terrible.  Unless you truely don't care if you have dead pixels.  Because you're stuck with any that you have, if you buy from Newegg.

Nextly, check here for good advice on which monitor to buy:

He hasn't updated in 6 months, but not a lot changes so its still relevant, and the thread is still active.

It is the Manufacturer's responsibility for returns and I have no problems dealing with ASUS.   This is a pristine monitor w/o a single dead pixel.  I kept the box this came in for shipping purposes (if the need arises).

I've never had a problem with Newegg returns...especially within the first 30 days...1 dead pixel or 100. But I don't always buy my monitors from Newegg, just depends on who has the best price...check around for sales.

For reason's laid out in this thread

http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,271054.0.html

I will no longer buy monitor's from NewEgg.  Let me be absolutely clear, they did nothing "wrong", as they adhered to their policy, which they are clear about up front and which I was aware of before I bought it.

However, the monitor's response time was (badly!) misrepresented by the manufacturer, and they would not exchange it for another monitor, which left me holding the bag.

So the bottom line for me is that while they may have been within their rights, it was overall an unpleasant experience.  As you can get the same monitor's elsewhere for virtually the same price with a return policy, I'll not buy another monitor (or any other non-returnable item) from them.

I fail to understand how that has any relevance to this thread?   I had a 4ms 19" go out on me.   I'm not going to purchase a 5ms, let alone an 8ms LCD.   I bought a 2ms LCD with 1080p.   Spending more at Best Buy for the same thing is just as much "hit or miss" as it is on Newegg.

I was responding to the issue of purchasing from Newegg raised by Boilerdown, and certainly not suggesting you buy an 8 ms monitor - AND definately not the one I did, if you even can - they seemed to have discontinued it in a real hurry anyway.

Nor is the issue the "hit or miss" nature of buying a monitor. The issue is that a "miss" from Bestbuy means a trip back to Bestbuy, while a miss when purchasing one from Newegg means eating the cost of a monitor - Newegg's policy precludes any possibility of a return, which is going to be an issue if the monitor simply doesn't perform adequately (or to the specifications, as in my case).

I should probably focus more attention on quoting the information I'm replying to, in order to prevent misunderstandings, but it seems so, well, redundant!
