Yeah I think it reaches the maximum of it's 11 year cycle in 2012.

Nope.  Just started out from a minimum.  Late 2013 early 2014 for maximum.

Without checking, I'm pretty sure Moray's right.  IIRC they only just saw the first couple of sunspots a couple of months ago.  Seems like they were a bit past due, but I'm not certain about that, I just think I remember it that way.

Well I guess I was off by about a year then, I don't keep up with the schedule of the solar cycle, I just remember hear on one of those 2012 apocalypse shows and they said that it was around the time of the solar maximum.

Each year they push back this solar cycle by a year and a half.  Google enough and you'll find an old prediction saying this year was supposed to be the maximum.  The sun is currently doing something unusual.
