AvA did it again !
« on: January 26, 2010, 09:01:34 AM »
Last night there was 4 of us.
Can't really recall the names but Silent6, Black70, PerDweeb and Bgfoot were havin' quite a challenge fighting each other. There was 2 other German pilots that were skilled with the 109s !
The plane set was Spitfires 1 vs the 109's

It was very challenging especially with the Spits having no cannons  and the carb spurtin' when pushing the stick too hard :cry
The 109's were climbing hard and those cannons were deadly to the weak spitfire frame :furious
The Spits were able to saddle up on the enemy but the smart German pilot simply put the nose down and dove/sped away to return at a higher alt to threatened the Spitfires.

Took 30sec and went into the Early and Midwar and typed up a simple msg ! " AvA Spitfires vs 109's !"
Then returned to the battles.
Within 15mins, the AvA was receiving many more players !!!!!!

Don't remember all of you(s) that joined in BUT we should SPREAD the word around ! AvA is very challenging !
RADAR not functioning under 500ft ! Now that was exciting ! I think it should be raised to 5k !

I like the plane set. Don't totally agree that the Spit1 was an even match to the 109 but enjoyed the fights anyways !
Spit5 would of been a even threat to the opponent.

Maybe we should have 3 small AvA with 3 different theatres.....

Salute All !
Was fun and will be there tonight !

I know right?  Nothing better than not knowing were to go find a fight.  I actually think we may get a few more guys in the AvA if the special set ups are removed (hurricane force winds, no icons, special radar) etc.  My opinion of coarse and probably wrong.

My biggest problem with AVA now is not being able to find the fight. Other than that I guess I can live with no icons low. I have a nice setup and can see the con coming...... problem is many folks have graphics turned down.

I can live with all of it, just saying, maybe better to not try too hard to make it different.  It is different enough by default.

Not able to find the fight ?

Last night when the pilots were entering the arena, they were asking where was the fight.
On the 200chan, I told 'em where the action was and problem was solved.
You were encountering the enemy within minutes....

When it started to be populated, it kind of looked like the DUAL arena except with the plane match.
Axis vs Allies   SPITFIRES vs 109's !!!

What I regret NOT DOING is taking charge and getting us to regroup.(8 Allied players at the time)
Once all on the ground, we take off together and sweep towards the enemy base. Simple littl' realistic mission to surprise the opponents ! :D
What was happening was since the bases were close together, everytime we(Spitfires) were making contact with the 109's, they were always above us.(correct me if I'm wrong but the 109's climbed way better than the Spit1....)
Some Allied pilots were gettin' discouraged UNTIL we scrambled from further back.

YMMV

Still got hopes :)

I've noticed over the past few months that people will often log in and then go afk, sometimes for quite awhile.  If you enter the arena, ask where the war is, and don't get a response, try sending a pm to the other side to see if they're really there (occasionally players won't realize that Channel One doesn't function in AvA).

Otherwise it's in everyone's interest to let people know where the fight is.

Yup I tried 1 and 200. Did not try to PM. I just figured they were afk.

Nope.  We were there buzzying and flying around.  I enjoyed getting spanked pretty hard in my beloved Bf110C-4.  She's a demon with flaps. And the 109E-4 is a tough plane to engage.  However, if you're a spitter/hurrinut - and if you set your convergence to 200 - its VERY easy to knock down either Bf aircraft.

Especially if you're a JABO tard like myself in a STUUUKA with a big bomb underneath.   :airplane:

Good fights last nite. Had a blast! :)

I was not speaking of last night. I went to Battle Of The Bulge last night. Was fun playing bait to get those really high birds down for friendlies.   :D
