You both have it wrong...Constantine was the demon hunter who survived a suicide attempt and was destined for hell unless he could redeem himself.

Byzantium was an old Greek (?) colony I believe...before Constantine took it over and turned it into the capital of the Eastern Roman empire (aka Byzantine empire)...it wasn't known as the Byzantine empire until modern times.

the Eastern Roman Empire was when the Empire was split in order to well...keep order. When the Western Roman Empire fell with the sacking of Rome the Eastern section became an independant Empire and was renamed the Byzantine Empire. The Byzantine Empire slowly declined far into the 2nd A.D. melennium

what about the ottomans?
The Byzantine–Ottoman Wars were a series of decisive conflicts between the Ottoman Turks and the Byzantine Greeks that led to the final destruction of the Byzantine Empire and the rise of the Ottoman Empire.

The Ottomans are the reason its called Istanbul today. When the Byzantines were destroyed the Ottomans took over and renamed it...again

Istanbul was Constantinople.
Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople.
Been a long time gone since Constantinople.
Why did Constantinople get the works?

That's nobody's business but the Turks!
