The RAF used to shoot these down on sight during the BoB, red crosses or not. The LW was really pissed. The guys who flew them had big cajones.

Ya the RAF did shoot them down even though they rescued Brit pilots to, eventually they started painting them in standard camo and crosses.

Just FYI, about seeing the name of the pic, Netscape Communicator 4.7 (yes it's old I know, but I still use it here at the office), doesn't show the name of the pic (just fetch.dll ... etc) but IE 5.5 that I use at home shows ....
