I'm having a helluva time in a tank now, they are certainly at a greater disadvantage now than in V1.02.

Ask any full time tanker, it ain't so easy now!

If I understand this, it could have been an M16. Only a newbie or M16 would take pot shots at a passing cannon-armed fighter. At any rate, if you are low and slow near a ground vehicle armed with weapons, don't you think you should have to consider what he might be able to do to you?

Had my first base capture with a M3 last night!!! Drove right past a Panzerout on picket duty, even shot him in the bellybutton on the way by. Day one of 1.03 I got in the 6 of a pnzr with a M3 and filled his engine with .50 rounds. Guess what! I got the kill!
Lovin every minute of it!

I killed a couple or Tanks in my Corsair with 20mm cannons last night.  The only problem was my gunnery, after a few botched attempts while other planes blew away the panzers, I started to figure it out.

1. Set flaps to full,

2. Ride the stall at about 110mph.

3. Open up at about 250 yds from side or rear.

4. Kill tank.

I usually take about two passes as my gunnery sux. AKDeJaVu kills them like flies.

Let see now, a Panzer tank, which shed the 37mm (what a joke that pop gun on a tank) Main gun on a Sherman Tank like a duck sheds water. The Sherman could only knock out a Panzer with a rear hit. Not talking taking off treads here BTW. But my 20mms knock it out from from the side or rear.

Yeppers, this is a realistic sim! LOL

Mind you in a Realistic SIM you would only get to die once

BTW the 20mms on the F4U seem a lot less effective than in the 1.02 version.  I really like the F4U, of course it was a Marines Plane    Semper Fi

20mm hispanos definatly should be able to kill 1940s era tanks vs the top armour.
One man destroyed over 500 tanks using cannons and bombs in ww2.
The sherman had a 75 and 76.2mm not a 37
Same thing happend to me Easy. I was hunting panzers in a 1c. A friendly panzer was indicating the target for me and I flew towards it. Neither of us had seen the m16 that was 1k short of the panzer and Boom Pongos got some holes...
This is a whole lot better then last version. I love it.
I can still kill panzers in a 1c but not in a fw I imagine. It is a bit harder but not difficult. The Turret AAMG is moslty a nuiscence(sp) but I imagine that it could get a lucky damaging hit. Certainly several panzers could put up a respecatble defence.

AKFokerFoder+,
I think you might be mixing up a PnzIII with a PnzIV and a PnzIV with the PnzV.  These are all very different tanks, the mark numbers don't mean the same thing as a Spitfire's mk number.  In the case of these tanks, each number represents a whole new line of tanks.

Pongo:

I stand corrected, the Sherman had a 75mm gun, and a 76 later in the war I understand.

Here is a web page describing Hans Ulrich Rudel, who destroyed three Soviet ships, 70 landing craft, 519 tanks, and a hand full of Soviet aircraft. He flew 2,530 combat missions, the most by any pilot in any
war.

His Stuka was specially equipped with 37mm guns, one under each wing, a lot more punch than a 20mm.

Still, I suppose it doesn't matter for spit what happened in the real war, only what happens in the AH arena. In the AH arena, it is pretty easy to kill the tanks with a 20mm. This is a game, that is the damage model. It may change in the next release, who knows.

Hans Rudel

Reality is as you perceive it

The point is to have fun, and this is a fun game
