sadly im  only a c/amn but im the most active member on west bay composite squadron and is on the drill team

cadets dont fly, they observe, but cant fly.
you also have to be atleast 18 or have gotten your solo to fly with them in searches

i hate calling people out, but i know you are lying

only CFRs can fly CAP planes, and i believe they have to be senior members

incorrect sir.

i am a lisenced private pilot. the only requirement for me to be able to rent a CAP aircraft(besides being a member) is that i take a "form5"

the form5 is actually very simple. it is the exact same practical test that i took to earn my ppl to begin with. only difference(again) is that there is a little CAP specific paperwork that needs to be filled out with each flight.....and normally a phone call to a flight release officer.

 and an FYI.......CFR's don't fly.  :D

Well, as I see I have been brought into this already... lol.

I am a C/2lt and Squadron Commander in CAP. I am a licensed pilot with my form 5, though I am not old enough to crew on missions.

I do fly routinely on O-flights, including what you saw in that thread of my KC-135 Flight, however I also ferry some cadets between islands off the book.

A few of my personal shots:

Granted, we are on PACAFCommand's base, Hickam AFB so we get a lot of unique opportunities, but generally in CAP you get some great experiences you will never find anywhere else. In fact, this coming Friday we are gonna go play around in one of the 737s the generals jet-set around in :)

If you have any questions about the cadet program, feel free to shoot me a line, particularly when it comes to aviation.

Oh, and it is 18 for mission pilot/ aircrew, regardless of personal flying experience.

Does anyone actually fly for CAP?

I know a lot of people that are in it, but they don't seem to have a very active pilot program. Seems like they use retired airline type guys with very little turnover.
