Trainer Mode
« on: February 16, 2010, 05:18:58 PM »
Sometimes its hard to either show someone how to execute an ACM or hard for someone to explain to you how to execute an ACM. If there was a mode where you and a trainer could fly the same plane at the same time, this could be resolved.

Currently today, you can ride with someone but only one person has control of the aircraft. If there was a trainer mode, it would be more like having a trainer in your plane ala, many 2 seat training planes.

Yeah, that's right, you just got your rear handed to you by a fuggly puppet!

LOL, that would be pretty cool but sounds like a coding nightmare.

easiest thing is have him follow you in the same type or airplane.  remember just because he sees the controls inside the cockpit moving it doesnt mean he knows what's happening other than by you telling him.  however if he's in the training arena or da in f3 then he can see your plane surface as you move.

 Great idea Ardy. :aok

My biggest gripe about the ride along is the player who joins cant see the proper settings, tracers ect.

Having dual controls would be the best thing, but I'd settle for the player riding seeing the same things as the pilot!

I certainly would enjoy such a feature. It would allow for legitimate requests of the AT-6 Texan.

sounds like a coding nightmare.
You just need one button to transfer control of the airplane. Interfering controls (both pilots in control at once) is too much of a hassle and not ... good in any sense.

It does sound like a good idea.

I wonder though, how lag effects what the "rider" sees.  It seems to me he'd see things differently than the actual pilot, so the proper timing of maneuvers would be skewed.

That's just a guess though.  I know that when I do ride-alongs in an effort to help someone learn a facet of flight, I often wish I could take the controls for a minute or two...

would be a neat addition.

I would love to induce a stall spin and say "you have control" ....

I like the idea for a purely selfish reason; it would make my life in the TA just a little bit easier.

I'd imagine it would be a nightmare to 'coad', however.

Wouldn't it be easier to just have narrated films of basic maneuvers including taking off and landing? You could see the controls move, watch from F3, turn trail on etc and then practice on your own.
