Who cares?  The PGA Tour, the sponsors, and the fans.  Ratings are down 57% at the Accenture match-play this year without Tiger in the field.  Weekend golf ratings were down 47% in 2008 when Tiger was out with an injury.  Those are some big numbers.  It would be as if half of the NBA fans stopped watching when Michael Jordan left the NBA in 1993 to play baseball.

Granted, the media kerfuffle over this over whole thing has been ridiculous overkill but it's pretty rare that one athlete is such a big part of his sport.

and that's why golf is screwed up. To me watching golf was more interesting without him. Even when he is 10 stokes behind they constantly talk about him as if he were in the mix. I don't think it's fair to the other players or the leaders when their achievements always seem to be over shadowed by how Tiger's playing no matter how bad . The fact of the matter is the dude got his way on everything for too long and he brought it into his marrage. Finally someone stopped catering to him and unfortunatly it took his wife to put him in his place. I never have liked Tiger, I always thought he was talking out of the side of his mouth when being interviewed , I never liked his childish anger displays when playing bad and I never liked the way golf revolved around him. It's not good for any sport to put so much emphisis in one guy and your seeing the result in golf's ratings because of it. I think the sport would settle down if he decides to take an extended break and that it would be better for the game if he did. A year or 2 without Tiger the fans would start focusing on the game more rather then the icon.

Yea, i do agree on that.  Ever since he showed up, people suddenly what to be like him.  There is one good thing about him is that golf became more popular since he showed up.  Now who know where it is going.

I'd rather watch paint dry or a bowling tournament...at least it's not costing me anything, won't be in the news ad nauseum and won't interrupt anything on the boob toob that I really want to watch.

hes a really good golfer so people should care about his golf.

why so many seemed so compelled to care about and judge famous people's personal lives I will never understand..

I guess to many its "HA  see your no better than me!! you stuck at life!! I feel better now"

Many don't feel compelled...until said star makes it that way. When the man says on many occasions that his family will always come first and has been cheating the whole time he was married with a dozen...then yeah...people WILL judge. They were lied to.

1 indiscrestion....not good but could be managed and swept away pretty easily. 12? Over the entire time he was married? Public will have a hard time trying to get by that...not that they have to  , but he needs to make ammends to help himself. Otherwise....he'll be just another tabloid superstar gone bad. I don't know him , but I feel confident in saying I don't believe he wants anything like that at all.

I'm not a big Tiger fan.....well nown where I hang to. I admire his game...but him? Jury was out. I was starting to listen to him more since his dad had passed and he was married. Felt he was becoming more mellow and not so damned cocky and thinking his **** didn't stick. Now...As I stated....I could really care less if I see him ever play again or not....and outside of Stang  , there aren't any bigger golf fans than me on this BBS.

Have you not heard the new?! Golf courses is a threaten sporting field that is fading quick. The southwest U.S. is pushing for another 200 courses by 2012.

Personally I think he owes only his wife and family an apology. I think his personal life is just that his personal life.
I could care less how many road lizards he's tagged. Anybody who feels let down because he's had extra marital sex needs to get a life of their own.
How can anyboy who's never met you and not involved in your life personally owe you an apology? How could you honestly say his personal weakness has negatively affected your life?
Anybody saying he owes them an apology because he's a role model for their children should consider apologizing to their children themselves for not doing their job..
They should be the role model for their own children not some professional ball swatter.

You are right shifty.  Anytime a athlete or celebrity gets in trouble with the law or some other personal issue, society expect that person owns them a apology.

Bingo!  I already placed a bet saying he wins the Masters  :aok

I concur I've watched every tournament he's been in since the his amateur championships and theres no way he's missing the master's.  He wouldn't look back on his career and say I just needed 1 more to beat Jack and say if I wouldn't have missed the 10' masters I may have won that one.  And trust me when he comes back and starts his winning the sponsorships will come back, he's not done any harm to himself besides to Erin.  I lost some respect for him but I think he can turn it around.

it is three mile island and unit one is still operating, unit two was the one shut down.

just the facts.

Well if he was a UFC fighter then I would agree but golf is considered a family watched sport  with a ton of heritage and tradition .  Glf has been very good to Tiger and him not considering the poor light that he HAS now  placed on the game is another example of his self centeredness.

If he bagged 1-2 women I would have to say he may have been able to sweet talk his was out of it but 12+ that we know of is just plain ridiculus. This display of pure self gratification and again proof that he hasn't placed anyone but himself first. Considering the damage that has been done to his wife and kids gives me huge insight on just how big his ego truly is. Lack of commitment and loyalty is another personal trait that leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. His income doesn't just come from his ability to play golf but his moral stature in the community. If bagging a large portion of women while being married and lying to not only his wife and kids but to his sponsors and us means nothing to you then so be it. I however see this form of lifestyle as being counter productive to what he wants all of us to believe and I have little time or consideration for him. I choose to surround and support people that have assets that include conducting themselves in a expected manner and nothing less.

See there I disagree.  I do not think any less of the game of Golf due to this horn dog's actions, and therefore am with Masher in the completely apathetic camp.  Move on and let people try to focus on slightly more important issues, society.
