Are you really that clueless? A shot on net is only counted if the puck would hit in the 4'x6' of the net. Miller saved the American asses.

He sure did,Miller put in 1 of the best games I've seen from him.At the other end though Marty didnt have his best game by a long shot..............

Still wouldn't be trying to brag that your team put 45 shots on goal & only got 3 in, while the U.S team only put 23 shots on goal & got 5 in.

1 was empty net.  :D

And really - Miller is in his prime. To stop 42 shots is incredible. There's no question in my mind as to why we lost.

I think Marty is PAST his prime by ten years... We shoulda had Luongo in net.

Clueless, when it comes to hockey rules and how to play it? Yes im very ignorant but sports in general no I was actually a jock in school.

Ok I played Lacrosse for a states competitive team 4 years on Varsity. The difference between a Bad shot on goal and a Good shot is not much in distance or difference but the outcome is HUGE. Its even the same in the military with shooting at a target....Id rather have 10 well placed shots then 40 badly aimed shots.

Hey Canada, you still have the Woman's hokey team. There is no doubt that it will be a great match between U.S and Canada.

Even though I was rooting for USA, I said that before the game started that Brodeur is past his prime.  But hey you guys have Luongo starting in net against Germany.  Personally I would have put Luongo in after the 3rd goal was given up.

The Russians have a good team too,I'd say Russia, USA and Canada as the medal winners, what order depends on who has the best game at the right time!

   :salute

That's not going to happen. Either Canada or Russia will go out in a quarterfinal. This is of course because they will meet eachother there.

That can't happen.  If Canada wins vs Germany.. they play Russia in the Quarterfinals.  One of those two teams cannot win a medal.  (technically both may not, if Canada loses to Germany then Russia loses to Germany...highly unlikely doesn't even begin to explain that)

The Seeds...
1. USA, 3-0-0-0, 9 points, +9 goals
2. Sweden, 3-0-0-0, 9 points, +7 goals  (Has been my dark horse for the tournament)
3. Russia, 2-0-1-0, 7 points, +7 goals
4. Finland, 2-0-0-1, 6 points, +6 goals
5. Czech Republic, 2-0-0-1, 6 points, +3 goals
6. Canada, 1-1-0-1, 5 points, +7 goals
7. Slovakia, 1-1-0-1, 5 points, +5 goals
8. Switzerland, 0-1-1-1, 3 points, -2 goals
9. Belarus, 1-0-0-2, 3 points, -4 goals
10. Norway, 0-0-1-2, 1 point, -14 goals
11. Germany, 0-0-0-3, 0 points, -9 goals
12. Latvia, 0-0-0-3, 0 points, -15 goals

2010 Olympic Mens Hockey Bracket
 Playoff Qualifier 1    Quarter-Final 1
#8 Switzerland            #1 USA
#9 Belarus                     PQ1 Winner          Semi-Final 1
 Playoff Qualifier 2    Quarter-Final 2        QF1 Winner                         Gold Medal
 #5 Czech Republic         #4 Finland          QF2 Winner                          SF1 Winner
 #12 Latvia             PQ2 Winner                                            SF2 Winner
 Playoff Qualifier 3    Quarter-Final 3
 #7 Slovakia     #2 Sweden
                                                                                          Bronze Medal
#10 Norway     PQ3 Winner          Semi-Final 2                                 SF1 Loser
 Playoff Qualifier 4    Quarter-Final 4    QF3 Winner                         SF2 Loser
 #6 Canada     #3 Russia
                                                   QF4 Winner
 #11 Germany     PQ4 Winner

I honestly think the Czech Republic will make it through to play the US in the Semifinals...with the US winning that in a very close game.

The Canadians are going to have a really tough time getting through their bracket....After mopping up a lackluster German team, they'll be ostensibly playing the Russian squad in the Quarters and then, most likely, a very tough Swedish team in the Semis that went undefeated in the Prelims...

So...US vs Canada for the Gold....I still think Canada will win it, unfortunately.  The talent is just too deep...I just can't think they won't show up.  I will be wearing my USA jersey, but I don't think we win in a rematch...the Canadians won't look past us again.  I would love to see the US team beat the Canadians for the gold... would do wonders for the sport.

Gold - Canada
Silver- US
Bronze - Sweden

I'm American but I would like to see Canada win the gold. It is their national sport and they are hosting the games. We have enough medals.

My hoped for results:   (1) Canada
                                 (2)  Sverige
                                 (3) Suomi

That 1 empty net goal reflected the game as a whole.

USA hustled throughout the game and wanted the win.

Canada was lackluster and was expecting the win (as did just about everyone in the world).

No doubt Miller played a fantastic game, but Canada cannot lay the complete blame on Brodeur for all 5 goals scored. Canada was flatfooted and their forechecking was less than stellar ... had the forwards and defense done a better job and taken the USA guys a little more serious, Brodeur might have been the hero.

Well the Swiss just beat Belarus so looks like were going to be playing the Swiss in our next game.

TBH,I hadn't checked the schedule of who plays who next round!

I was mearly pointing out my top picks as the best teams, unfortunately sometimes the best teams dont get to "go for the gold" because of the tournment style they use for the games.

Canada beat Germany handily, was a good first period but I lost interest after the score ran up to 7or 8 to 1,dont even know the final score. :lol :lol  simply because it doesnt matter, only the medal round games really matter, well atleast to me!

I's kind of lame that Canada and Russia have to meat in the quarter finals. It should be a great game between two elite teams. It's a shame only one will even get a chance to win a medal after tomorrow.

The US team should handle the Swiss, but I saw Hiller steal a few games last April. I hope he gives up 10 goals and pulls a groin(won't even be his probably :headscratch:).
