I have a book here that says that 3 Staffeln of Jagdgruppe 88 used BF109B-1, BF109B-2, and BF109C-1 versions.  It doesn't mention any other versions but I don't know if that nessesarily means that no other versions saw service in spain or not.

According to Luftwaffe Colors, Volume One Section 2 `Jagdwaffe-The Spanish Civil War' by Eric Mombeek with J. Richard Smith & Eddie J. Creek. ISBN 0-9526867-6-7, It looks as though they were (This based on leafing through the pages)

Bf-109B-1
Bf-109B-2
Bf-109C-1
Bf-109D-1
Bf-109E-1
Bf-109E-3

OF course, the reason they went through so many variants was to `combat test' them as they developed them. They also have good information in that book on the He-112s in the Spanish Civil War.

P.S.-The series is the Classic Colors at this site:
 http://www.classic-books.co.uk/

Their Books on the Me-262 are the best I have ever seen.

What Sundog said.

All 109s that wer on Spain after the Civil war ended were left there and passed to Spanish hands, as did some Ju52s and HE111s.

Later when spare parts for the 109's engines werent to be found anywhere, the Messerchmitts were fitted with Merlin engine, so creating the called "Buchon"
