Cant imagine what would have happened if that tail hook grabbed any of those wires....

You can see the impact resulting in a spray of water as it hits the first three wires.

Too hard to see if the hook actually contacted wires or skipped off of the deck in between them. Every time I tried to pause the clip the site dropped other video links onto the screen. If it did touch the wires it must have been on the flat of the hook behind the opening so that it didn't hook up. I doubt the plane would have been flyable had it hooked any of them and dropped to the deck.

I was thinking of the same thing.  The cable would have prevent the jet to fly back up but to divert it left or right.  And the cable could have snap and hear it too.

Quite a plane and pilot to have exceeded the critical angle of attack for that amount of time and not enter a spin.

looks to me like that spray is caused by the jets powering up five feet off the deck pointing down ?
