Is there any way to get your old handle back?

I came back after several years and tried to get my old handle back. The server message was it had been deleted.

I think that's the login ID the server is talking about, which is different from the actual handle in game.
For login you can take any other ID, which will not show up in game. IF your old ingame handle is not taken by anyone, you can then use it. I did the same some time ago, got a new login ID after coming back, but was able to get my old handle.

Amen to that...  Just pick up the phone, you'll find them quite helpful and effective.
