Another FSO Scenario Proposal
« on: March 10, 2010, 11:27:35 AM »
In the tradition of Project Danny and Wake Island Rescue, I present to you another "What If?" Scenario:

December, 1941

On the 7th, two waves of bombers from Japanese carrier forces attacked the US Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor, inflicting heavy damage to American defenses and sinking or damaging numerous battleships and cruisers, while American air defenses were virtually destroyed on the ground. This is the history we know....

A third wave soon struck American fuel and repair facilities, leaving the fleet defenseless as an invasion fleet appears off shore.

As the scattered remnants of the US Pacific Fleet withdraw to San Francisco, the United States declares war. Taking to heart the warning of Admiral Yamamoto that an American surrender could only be negotiated in Washington DC itself, the Japanese military leadership orders an all-out offensive on the American mainland, staged from their newly established base at Pearl Harbor.

Anticipating a continued Japanese offensive, American carrier forces, including Enterprise, Yorktown, Lexington and Hornet, marshall off the US West Coast, prepared to meet the Imperial Japanese Navy in a desperate stand to end the Japanese offensive and defend American soil.

Sounds interesting. No San Fran map currently though.

I was thinking to myself the other day and conjured up a "What-if" idea for an event more like a scenario or snapshot, maybe even FSO. I jotted down a few notes if anybody is interested.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

I think someone was working on a map for an air race that was set in the San Fran area. I'm sure that could be modified to accomodate the new city strat and the position of the different NASs and AFBs in the area at the time.

Currently no San Fran map is being created by the CM Terrain team. So no we wouldn't have an exact map for what you wish.

Current maps under construction by the terrain team are:

- Borneo
- New Britain & Eastern New Guinea
- Germany
- Okinawa
- Black Sea (or Crimea)

- Hungary is being reworked
- Also Karelia is being reworked
