A OBX sunset....
« on: March 01, 2010, 07:00:09 PM »
I spend most of my summers here. Usually sitting by the ocean with poles in the water trying to catch something.

I'm speechless at the sunsets that you see every night there. Heres a few that some fellow took the other day.

Ahh the Outer Banks.

My family knew a person who owned a huge (and I mean HUGE) beach house down there on the water. We would always grab it the week of April break and we'd get 3-4 families down there and spend the week. Probably around 14-17 people staying there all together. Went to this awesome mini golf place as well...Not sure if you've been fud, but all I can recall is that you can choose between Gold and Silver courses...something like that. :)

An awesome place, wish I could go back there sometime.

Bah we get sunsets like that almost every night!  Course that may due to only being a little under an hour from the Outer Banks, and we live on the water. :D

Somewhere between Corolla or Duck. Years back, vague memories now.

Havn't been through there in a long time. We stay in Avon, down south. Not many people and lots of room to fish.

I stay in St. Jhon in the summer next to St. Thomas, we get really nice sunsets there too. I've even seen the green flash sometimes. I miss the summer.

I was going to ask where fud but I saw you said Avon.  I lived down near Emerald Isle and Atlantic Beach for a little while, and absolutely loved that area.  We were going to stay down there when I got out of the Marine Corps but decided to come home.  I really miss those summer nights on the beach or at Bogue Sound.

I can't find avon on the outer banks...how far is it down?  I also remember going to a restaurant called "The Black Pelican" or something like that...

I would love to go down there again...had so much fun.

Took a Cruise to St Thomas (also Bermuda, St Maarten, PR) this past summer and had a blast there. Very nice weather down there...did a "snuba" excursion as well.

The black pelican is in Kitty Hawk, ate there once but we usually go to bassnights. Avon is on Hatteras Island, north of Buxton. The map might have it down as kinnakeet.

IIRC it was pretty good...was very young at the time. Still have a Frisbee somewhere from Black Pelican. :)
I found Avon, must have been blind the other times I was looking. Do you stay on the bay side or ocean side?

Pay for my plane ticket and I'll keep you company down there for a summer. :)
