Question about early 70 military jeep

Anyone know what happend to those oddball late nam? early 70s jeeps military only type. The real large ones that you never see on the road ever at least in my memory. It just occured to me the only place I ever see them is photos of Isreal. Did we sell them all to isreal? seems like every other vehical in Isreal is one of them.

Anyone know the story or designation of this jeep so I can google it ?

Nah. I bet he's referring to the dodge power wagons. 5/4 ton we called 'em. They had special non-civilian bodies on the power wagon frame.

The early 70's military jeep was the M151A1... dinky lil piece of toejam.

m 151 looks like the one im looking for . i guess the a1 varient had a indipendent rear suspension. just seemed odd that none got street leagle at all. i have only ever seen them in military duty. unlike almost every other type of jeep.

in 62 i was assigned as driver to one of the early models with the indy rear , it had a plaque on the dash warning not to exceed 35MPH when going around a turn or it would over turn, i don't think they were very rugged , once when off road i bent the front supension when i hit a hole

The first picture looks a lot like the Aluminium series 2a Landrover tho the front of the chassis is to low.

Plenty of them about in this part of the world. Ive owned 3 and they go where others fear to tread

My dad had one of the A1's with the independent rear suspension.  The thing was smooth as glass off-road, but the rear suspension made it a squirly.  

He sold it and bought one of the 151's with the regular rear end.
