Aircraft Registrations
« on: March 03, 2010, 08:28:09 PM »
Maybe should be in the wish list but it's more of a question about how possible this would be.

Basicaly I would love it to be coded that each time someone takes the default skin out of the hanger a random registration number be generated and printed on the side. I know this might mean alot more work but with the new WWI arena being made I think it would make so much difference to how the game feels. Nothing would need be changed on the aircraft skin except the reg.  So for instance, five of us roll a sopwith camel at the same time and fly out in formation. We look at each other and each have a unique number or letter to identify each other with.

Obviously player created skins will need to keep the original if it was a specific Ace's ride but generic squadron skins for player created could also have the generator mark each one slightly differently.

Just wondering if this idea is even possible, and what chance something like this may one day be implemented. It would add so much to imersion, the small touches like that really make a huge difference i think.

thanks to anyone who has any knowledge on the subject if you reply.

To add to this, perhaps the ability to set your own number preference if you choose, rather than simply a randomly generated number.

A textbox command like '.setnumberpref XX' would give you that number upon spawn-in unless rolling with a mission where someone has the same (in which one would be assigned a random number).

Of course a .setnumberpref 00 command would reset you to getting a randomly assigned number each spawn, as the OP described.
