New boat
« on: March 10, 2010, 07:35:23 AM »

Well here is the proof of concept fishing boat that I've been working on.  Finally got the patent pending status so I thought I'd share it with you all and see what your thoughts are.  The Idea is for a quick and easy way to go duck hunting or fishing with out all the hassels of a bigger boat and with out the problems of loading and unloading all the gear you have to haul for a trolling motor powered canoe.  By the way it can be towed with a mule or 4 wheeler to back woods ponds or lakes.

"We're gonna need a bigger boat."  :uhoh

"It took just under 30 hours. Which isn't too bad, considering I carved it by hand from a single piece of wood."  :)

Interesting built in trailer concept, but what about the back end?  How do you incorporate wheels?

They are attached to hard points in the rear end.  The best example of how they work...they are like the retracts on a Cessna 172 rg they lift up and rotate back onto the rear deck that has wheel wells that they sit in and fit in.  The concept was for a one man fishing canoe that has dual batteries, dual bank charger, livewell and a foot steered trolling motor.  Basically a scaled down bass boat.  So you would just unplug it, hook it up to whatever vehicle and go fishing/hunting.  Everything you need is already in the boat.

They are DOT approved and have a full suspension system.

Very neat! No doubt it has a cup holder and I see you incorporated a toilet paper roll right up front, handy, yet dry!

LMAO....the forward compartment either holds fish or plenty of ice and the ever elusive beer fish.  That toilet paper is the head unit for the hacked trolling motor (now green)

It's a 14' hull and add 6" on the front for the coupler.  Add 1'-6" on the rear for a raised motor.  Thanks for the compliment dragon.  I want to try and get a few of these sold.  Let me hear your feed back guys and girls I want to know if I should try and take this to market.  I figured I'd get a good thrashing on this forum it it totally sucks......... :bolt:

If you want any hope of selling this thing the first thing you got to do is post up a lot more pictures.

AKhog what type of underware do you prefer?  :rofl

It is undergoing a major facelift right now.  The pic and vid seen are the "lets just get it to work first prototype".  I will post soon a closer to finished product.  Remember this is not a production run boat but a garage built prototype.  Please be kind and thanks for the input on getting this thing started.  This forum has been a great source of knowlege and sarcasim.  Here is a brief over view of the concept.

I got tired of loading all of that stuff in the car to unload it at the dock, wire it up, go fishing for a few hours and only have to repeat the process in reverse to get home.  The benefit is that one person can get out and fish just about any where they want.  Take it on the road, take it off road.  Hook it up to a golf cart or a quad bike. Don't worry about forgetting anything; it's built into the boat. Fully loaded it is too heavy for one person to manage. That's why I put the gear on it.  Now, one person can manage it.  Roll it down to the water by hand or on the back of a vehicle.

Think of a full sized bass boat and all the features that it has.  Fish finder, live well, pumps for bilge as well as the live well, running lights for safety in low light conditions.  It has a trolling motor that is steered by foot, dual batteries, dual bank charger with a through deck plug to easily unplug the charger. Integrated tackle box (no more milk crates), integrated rod holders.  After you get in the boat with all the electronics you still have 200 lbs of storage capacity.  If you want to have a Daniel san moment you can stand on the bow or the rear.  How ever the seat has a 12" extension pole for sitting higher.  Believe me the boat looks a lot bigger than it is.

With the dual batteries I’ve had it out for almost 4 hours running and drifting and the 4 bar meter still had 4/4 charge (3/4 if it was under load) left on it.  I would imagine that if you weren't running at full throttle everywhere you could have plenty of battery life for a weekend of fishing or duck hunting.  The battery charger is built into the boat so you could find a dock and plug it in if you were in a pinch or if you are camping run a cord to the boat at night and in the morning your good to go.

Well theres it is......

maybe you could incorporate a charging system into the wheels to power it up as you tow it.

um.....it does have two big donut batteries for a total of like 10 hours of operation under one charge.  If anything I would incorperate a solar charger for camping die hards.
