That was an Aces High screenshot.  You can zoom in a lot more than that before you hit Alt+S.

The limitations that you impose on Gimp have no bearing on that screenshot.

Out of curiosity, how DID you do any detailing if you couldn't zoom in?  Aren't the two (creating detail & having a detailed view) interdependent?

The pile gets deeper............    :noid

I find it unlikely that someone who has managed to jump through the hoops of d/l a default skin to the end result of flying it in offline moe (and it actually showing up) cannot figure out how to zoom in, but here goes

(quoting from memory because I am at work)

Spawn on runway

Press F3 (External View)

Press F8 (pan Mode)

[ and ] to  zoom in and out

Carry on...............

Of course all the newb skinners would get their panties in a bunch, competing for the "Red Baron" skin. I hope HTC accepts the skin from someone who is more knowledgeable and experienced. It would be a shame to see a skin misrepresented in AH.

True, but on the other hand, it would be a shame for HTC to deny a "new" skinner's submission in favor of a "veteran" skinners if the skin is halfway decent. Really depends on the skin, not the name of its creator, is what I hope.

I'm guessing a lot of non-skinners will want to take up the art of skinning, now that all those colorful WW1 skins are possible.

Power to them, if they pull it off! They are welcome in the skinning community!

However, as far as multiple submissions of the same red baron skin, we may get an influx of 5 or so sudden submissions! I'd say leave it up to HTC to decide which goes in game, based on the quality and accuracy of the skin (i.e. the one that looks like it was created with MS paint and a paint bucket tool probably won't make it)

I would imagine that this is what we are trying to determine......

He now knows how to get a better screenie and post it.

The next step is to put that knowledge to practical use and exhibit a closer look at what has been done..........

It shouldn't matter who created the skin, who cares if a newb made it, what matters is who's skin is most accurate, that is what should matter. Just because it is a persons first try, just because someone a rep as a good skinner, if the newb's skin is better then let the newb get the post. I haven't even tried to skin a plane but if/when I do just because it is my first try that should disqualify it? Just doesn't seem right to me.
I would rather try and fail, than not try at all. (paraphrased)

Not to worry gr8. We're generally very helpful and supportive of new skinners, and try to give them the feedback they need when starting out.

The only problem is whether or not it's a serious attempt, and the brief span it took to create and submit it, well let's just say we could have helped a lot, bypassed a lot of pitfalls, and maybe avoided a "first submission rejection" that many of us have already experienced first-hand.
