Game freeze
« on: March 09, 2010, 08:23:37 PM »
I'm not really sure how you could call this but when i'm playing my screen freezes and the sound gets stuck on whatever i'm doing at the time. Sometimes the sound does a mini freeze but the screen doesn't do it. It's only the sound. Eventually, the sound freezes and screen follows. I cannot do anything after that. Need to reboot completely. Only thing I can think of that was different is the latest windows update I installed. Since then I think my problems started. I did a system restore to a previous date that I know my system was working fine but it didn't fix my problem. So here is my Dxdiag and I hope somebody can see something I need to update or change to fix this. Don't know if you need more than this. I just followed advice from another thread trying to find the solution to my problem. Tks

If you have loaded custom sounds, get rid of them.

You should update the drivers for both the video (190.38) and whatever the latest drivers from RealTek are as RealTek has had some driver issues and you are using drivers from 2007.

NOTE:  Do not use the latest drivers from NVidia!

that's the same problem i had when I d/l the 196.75 drivers.  uninstall your video card drivers and any nvidia software you have and I mean everything.  if you have any driver cleaning utilitiy wont hurt to use it.  also clean up your registry.  you may have to reboot and clean up registry again.  I always do it twice.  then restart and d/l the drivers for your card. that was the only way I could get rid of the bsd and freezes.  hopefully your vc didnt get damaged. I keep crossing my fingers too.

edit:  I also did a system restore and it didnt help.
