Saitek X52 will not work right
« on: March 21, 2010, 03:37:04 PM »
Hi acers,

I have been trying to connect my new Saitek X52, but it will not work. I have windows 7 64 bit. I connected the joystick, installed correct drivers, when i try to map it in aces, it seems backwards. If u pull the ekevator back, the pitch numbers move, and vice versa. acesH lists the X52 as my controller, but it wont map it correctly on its own, and I am unable to map it manually. Can anyone type up a walk through for this? Many thanks, if someone can help explain.

Patrick

Try deleting the software and restarting your computer.  My X52 works great with Wndows 7 64 bit without the Saitek software.

Hi Frod,

That did the trick. I think the real problem for me was that, when I plugged in the unit, it didnt work 'out of the box" like my 3D extreme did. When I plugged in the 3D extreme, Aces High had the mapping all ready to go, of course I had to map the buttons the way I wanted them, but that wasnt a bigt deal. When you plug in an X52, Aces shows it as your joystick, but none of the axes are set-up for you, and that threw me off a bit. Thanks again for the tip, I think I'm going to enjoy the new stick.

When you switch sticks, it is a simple matter of using the "Default Map" button for the new stick. It will do the rought programming for you then.

You just have to be sure no other stick is attached at the time.  The game cannot know which is the default stick and the axis names do not give any clue either.
