Something else to do in WWI
« on: March 16, 2010, 07:46:49 PM »
Hi all!

I was thinking about WWI and what could we add that would be possible to implement with the least effort possible that could add to the gameplay. Although I am fully satisfied with the "furball" frenzy, I understand that a few things could be added to spice up our "fish in a barrel" diet...

So, I came up with this:

Trenches - we could have one - or two - lines of trenches running along between "chess-piece countries". These trenches would be simple and be manned by legions of... paratroopers, our favourite grunts! That would give our gallant pile-its something to strafe.

Barracks - a couple of barracks to feed automatic truckloads of grunts to the Front. More stuff to strafe, behind enemy lines. Trucks and barracks, of course.

Mannable/automated AAA gun positions - one Lewis gun every 1000 yards, on the trench line, for our 5-inch fans try their hand at fly-by strafers, something to defend our grunts, they deserve a chance.

Well, apart the truck and the digging, all else is there. Maybe it would offer something more to do to some of our fellow players.

Flame away!

Cheers!

-1 for manable field guns. I personally dont think that WW1 should have manable field guns (or gvs, for that matter) because it would just give the cowards something to hide behind. I think WW1 should emphasize heavily on aerial combat. On the bright side, however, I would like to see some use of trenches to help assist in base captures. How HTC can coad the trenches for base capture, I have no idea.

Why does everyone want base captures?  HT said there will be no base captures here.  It's purely a dogfighting arena and a testbed for new features that will filter into WWII when the time is right.
