SBD5 alpha layer crashing skin viewer
« on: May 23, 2010, 12:12:58 AM »
I'm beginning some work on an SBD for a squaddie of mine (he's persistent about it, I figure he's due).

I'm just isolating the files and resizing the defaults at the moment (no progress to show) but when I resize the SBDDIVE_a.bmp and SBDDIVE2_a.bmp files it crashes the skin viewer every time.

The default skin tex for SBD is 256, bringing the 2 external textures up to 1024 is 4x, so I resized the dive flaps top and bottom by the same 4x ratio to be 512 wide (up from 128 originally) and resized the alpha layers accordingly. Removing my custom-sized alpha layers while leaving in the up-sized dive flap bitmap portions displays in the skins viewer with no crashing.

I thought alpha bitmaps had to be the same size as the bitmap they were an alpha for?

Also, since the alpha bitmaps are outdated, would it work better if I used an alpha text file, or is this skin so old that doesn't even work on it?
