High res texture pack oddities

I'm running the high res texture pack with my textures set to 1024.  However whenever I reboot my computer, it's several days before the high res textures appear in the game.

For example, when I start AH after a reboot, the textures (most obviously the ones on the splash screen and the clipboard) will appear like they're 512 or 256 size, however after a few days (I haven't managed to determine quite when), suddenly I get the high res textures when I start up the game.  Has anyone else experienced this?

Can I assume you have the game resolution set to 1440x900?  That appears to be your native LCD resolution.  If it is not the native resolution, then all bets are off.

Yes it is set to 1440x900, and that is my native resolution.  Also, I've noticed that sometimes, when I first open up the game, the splash screen will initially have the high-res textures for a split second, then switch to the lower resolution ones.  This only happens occasionally, though.

Oh...well it's being displayed at a far lower quality.  Also, I just checked out the inside of the B-17, and my AH is definitely not showing the high-res textures at the moment.

If the splash screen is changing, then you have something else going on.  The splash screen is a completely separate file from the game textures.

Is it possible the video card is overheating?  Just a thought.

I just tried running three games at once, and only managed to get it up to 60 degrees C, from a base of about 50, so I doubt that it's it.  Also, all my other games are acting normally.
