Another large update on FSO night??
« on: April 09, 2010, 07:18:23 PM »
Just logged on for some practice and there's an 17 meg update waiting.  Why do they continue to do this before an FSO??
I hope this doesn't crash. I've about had it reserving late friday nights only to wonder if the game will crash. HTC needs to get with it and do the updates early in the week. This is total BS.

I understand your frustration about the updates, however the large update (17Meg) was posted yesterday by HTC. It includes a fix for what happened last Friday night, so I think they are being very proactive to get the problems identified and fixed as quickly as possible.

The update that was posted today is very small (200k), if you have yesterdays .5 and .6 updates, it will only take a few seconds for today's fix.

Can't expect people to check in every day. Also there was another update today.  All I (and I'm sure others) ask is that updates aren't introduced right before 400+ people show up for fso 11pm friday night. When at least half of the people log on tonight they'll have a major download. That has to be a big hit on the servers and must add to the problems when they all try to go OTR.

You know what....  It's a game...  Pretty darn fun most of the time...  Sometimes not so much...  Would a crashed FSO frame really be an end of the world scenario?

Today's update wasn't large at all. I think a 17meg file is quite good even.

CM's have 'zero' control over when HTC posts updates.

HTC is very aware of FSO and the impact any update would have on a Friday before FSO. I would suggest you call or e-mail HTC and let them know your concerns.

LOL the large update was NOT repeat NOT posted on Friday night but rather on Thursday, if you are unable to log in to check for updates, the problem is yours not HTC, by your reasoning ANY update posted not to YOUR schedule would be wrong.

I am sure after rethinking this you will understand that "knee jerk" complaining usually just takes the "knee" part out  :old: trust me I know I have been guilty of this myself in the past  :)
